Hello Everyone
Well, the holiday season is almost on us, and it is a perfect time to reflect on our blessings and seek out ways to make life better for those around us.
Have you arranged the red and white uniform and the beard ready? It is time to give it a shake and maybe try it on to see if you are the same size as last year. The big day is so close now, and in fact, I have been back in the kitchen learning how to peel potatoes and pumpkin and making sure I know what length the beans should be. My Master Chef just loves times like these. I go along with it just to appease him. However, I have to admit it is a long time since I peeled a potato or some pumpkin.
Would love to hear what you all have planned for New Year. We will certainly do something to celebrate. Nothing planned at this stage, but I'm sure Mr John will be up to the mark and having us enjoy a nice evening. What a lot of us do on New Year's Eve is to reflect back on the year that was.
It will be an interesting thought process and discussion. In January and February who would have thought what was to follow. A jolly pandemic. What a worldwide crisis it turned out to be. We were so fortunate in Australia that our governments took strong measures and kept us safe. Still, the strong measures did have their drawbacks. While restrictions were necessary, we did miss family and friends time together. However, I don't think we should dwell on the drawbacks. We should be excited to reflect back on the positives to come out of our lockdown situation. What were your positives? Mine were taking on challenging IT programs. Because I could not go anywhere, my office became my cave. For those of you who know me know how determined and persistent I can be. So the good old computer was going nowhere until I won. There were many challenges, and I am overwhelmed with the help I received from so many people. Thank you once again to you all. I really must have been a complete rookie before Covid.
It is a technology world, and while I learnt so much, I am brave enough to admit I still have a way to go, and I know situations are changing daily.
As I have said, lockdown was so productive to our whole team. Online parties, producing pathways to rewarding jobs for so many; training online led to many reaching their dreams, and our customers loved shopping online and are continuing to do so.
We loved that so many of the team joined John and I in seeking out those who were left by themselves for long periods. A Zoom call to them followed by a little gift saw so many with a smile on their face and quite often bought tears to my eyes, but really happy tears.
So the New Year is in Mr John’s hands. How brave am I?

Well everyone the plan on Sunday worked to a tee!! We enjoyed a lovely lunch celebrating our new ESL elevation with Debbie West and Mr John's birthday, but we were able to find ten minutes without rain to select 6 new roses. They have enjoyed the rain this week and this afternoon were transferred to their permanent home in new pots here in Brisbane. We are hoping that we now have the success formula and looking forward to lots of beautiful new roses.
Mr John then enjoyed a family dinner to continue his birthday celebrations on Sunday night. He adores his grandchildren, and I always say grandchildren are a gift from God. Until you have grandchildren, you could never understand just how special they are and how much love and happiness they give.
Roads and shopping centres here in Brisbane are buzzing with people who are all enjoying preparing for the Festive Season however it is good to remember Carrie Fisher’s quote “I don’t think Xmas is necessarily about things. It’s about being good to one another.”
On this note, I will close for this week and wish you all peace and happiness in the lead up to the Festive Season.
Take care and stay safe until next week.
Cheers Annette
