Hello Everyone
Have you finished decorating your Christmas tree? Always a bit of a task but well worth it to have the presents underneath and the lights and decorations all sparkling.
I know I have at times challenged this job over the years, but then I would always put my hand up and say I did it when the beautiful remarks were being made. So girls smile when the kind remarks are coming your way. The good old tree is a central part of Christmas. Guess the presents would not look so great just stacked up in the corner of the room. In fact, girls if you did the major part of the work, accept the accolades. I do love putting decorations which we have purchased from all around the world on the tree and reminiscing on where they were purchased.
We have moved to miniature trees surround by moss this year. We will be in Yamba for the Special Day so decided not to drag the big tree out. I had no intention of miniature trees either until I went to a close-by Santa Shop. You could purchase whatever size tree you wanted. So guess what. I went for multi miniatures. They are real trees, and I love watering and manicuring them every day. John just shakes his head. I think he is wondering what I am going to do with them come Boxing Day. This is the million-dollar question, John? We certainly don't want pine trees dominating our landscape. I am admiring one of the trees in our lounge room as I pen this letter and they do look special. Love the red bobbles and the moss on the top of the pots to keep them moist. I am wondering what the Managing director might say if I decided I wanted to take them to Yamba for the Christmas Dinner Table. Yes, whatever you are thinking you are probably right!!! I will let you know what happens to ours in the New Year.
While on the topic of gardening, I thought it would be a great time to give you an update on the rose project. I am now picking a mixed bunch a day. Can you believe that?
After the entire trauma I have put you all through, the majority of the bushes are flowering consistently. As you know, we did lose a few along the way, and there are still some that are slow to move. I have a game plan happening on Sunday to replace the ones we have lost. We are taking our new ESL Debbie West for lunch at Mt Tamborine and guess where we are having lunch. Yep, you have it – a rose nursery. This was recommended to me, so I am quite excited that I may be able to replace the roses we lost. The roses have been an interesting project, and John tells me the answer to the success we are having is we decided – even agreed – to let them take their own course.
We did, and the results are forthcoming. Still, I do love to sneak out and have a chat to them – Secret Squirrel. I don't want to upset things, and John is very handy when it comes time to fertilise and lifting pots when I want them changed around. Actually, I have even noticed him out there inspecting the bushes on a regular basis. His favourite is Firefighter, but to his disappointment, it has only flowered once but does appear to be spreading its wings or should I say branches at the moment – so here's hoping.
So from roses to miniature Christmas Trees, I wonder what will be next.
I would love to thank so many of you for your lovely feedback on receiving our blogs and sharing your stories that in many cases, relate to what is happening at our household. It is the little things that continue to make a big difference and give us the most pleasure. Both the roses and our little miniature Xmas trees are certainly providing that for me at the moment.
We look forward to hearing what is happening in your household in these weeks leading up to Xmas so until next week we send our blessings for a happy and healthy week.
Take care and stay safe
Annette.
