Hello Special People
As I commence this week's blog, there is a myriad of thoughts being processed. Yes, we wait all year for Xmas, and with a blink of an eye, Xmas is over for another year. There are certainly lots of treasured memories tucked away, and the Xmas tree stands in the corner looking rather lonely with all the beautiful presents received.
While we were blessed as a family to enjoy a special Xmas, driving home after making sandwiches for the street folk this morning truly prompted that attitude of gratitude.
So how was your Christmas 2022? We were busy, but every minute was worth the effort. Santa was in full swing, and lunch was so very special. We were fortunate to have the New Zealanders on Board after so many years of not seeing them. It was great to see them enjoying the celebrations with their cousins and being so excited to be back in Australia. They leave us tomorrow, and there will be no departure videos. I don't handle departures and goodbyes too well!!
We are off to Yamba for the New Year. A great place to welcome the New Year. John is cursing as he is on a no-swim sabbatical after his cataract removals. He will not enjoy sitting on the beach and watching the family enjoy the water. I guess he will put all his celebrations into the clock striking midnight. It will be lovely spending this time with Craig and Leisa, and Mathilda. Their place at Yamba is beautiful, and we love spending time in the quiet coastal town.
We both enjoyed two entirely different experiences for Xmas;- John had an exciting Xmas week with his favourite horse, Greylander having an easy win at Eagle Farm. We were both on board as he came down the straight, but it made little difference. The further they went, the bigger the gap. He blitzed them. John thought it was a bonus Xmas present even though he didn't back it. For me, an entirely different bonus with the most thoughtful text from a lady who purchased one of our beautiful roses with a simple message Merry Christmas! The kind and thoughtful gesture brought the tears.
As we draw to a close for 2022, it is an opportunity to reflect on all of the experiences we have had, our favourite moments of happiness and sadness of the success and disappointments and reminding ourselves how grateful we are for the challenges and obstacles we have faced because they have taught us we are able to overcome anything together. So how do you go about reflecting on 2022?
Let’s consider;- What is the most important lesson we have learned?: What is the best thing that happened?: What challenges was I able to overcome?: What new skills did I learn?: What gave you the most happiness?: What was your favourite memory?: What was the most fun? As I type this, my mind wanders in response to these questions.
We all set a journey into this new year with High hopes and a million dreams. Here's to the ones that we fulfilled, and for the ones that didn't, the new year is here to make it happen.
John and I wish each of you a Happy New Year bursting with fulfilling and exciting opportunities. And remember, if opportunity does not knock, build a door!
Happy New Year!
