Hello Special People
Isn't it funny how a weekend trip to a garden nursery can change your life? It happened to us just a week ago. I needed some colour for inside the house. My mind was set on getting something potted so it would last. I had seen a hydrangea over at Leisa's place, and while I hadn't told John that was what I was looking for, I was on a mission.
So, we found one. It was a beautiful pink hydrangea, but I could tell it would be lonely, so I won't go into all the to-ing and throwing, but in short, we came home with five. Of course, we needed pots to replant them, so we arranged pots, and then we needed a special potting mix, so we arranged the potting mix. John was laughing and wondering if Nutrimetics could give him a utility instead of a car when we are next ready for a replacement. Honestly, I think he thinks I am crazy. But he enjoys the colourful hydrangea inside on the kitchen table, and he does check out the potted ones outdoors each day. In fact, he was the one that introduced us to hydrangeas. He has been growing a couple from cuttings, and they did well last Spring, but they were a little tardy this year. So, they have been repotted and are currently in sick bay recovering. So, you can see why we needed new ones.

The next day something very special happened. One of our dear customers – a dear old lady of 90 – has been telling John about this special rose nursery. She mentioned it again when she phoned to order her Nutrimoist. I heard her ask John if we had been there yet? Of course, he had to say no. When he finished on the phone, he said Vi was upset with me because I haven't taken you out to her rose nursery. I could not hold back. "Well, why don't we go now." I said, and that is what happened.
The nursery is called “Donelles” at Doolandella, and I renamed it immediately. It is Rose Heaven. I could not believe my eyes. John had a frown on his face, not sure what was going to happen. "Can I just get one" was the plea. "Alright, let’s pick one and get going," he said. But I continued looking and asked about a second. It was so hard to decide. With that, John sprung to life and said, "Well, I think the second choice should be mine." So, it was, but then I still needed two, didn't I, so we came away with three. Once again, we needed pots, potting mix and the lovely lady who owns the nursery told us we had to have charcoal to place in the bottom of the pots. We then enjoyed a fun afternoon repotting.

Folk, you must go to take a visit to Donelles. I have never seen so many roses. You name a rose, and they have it. Remember we were there late Spring, and the area Donelle has for roses was only half full. “It’s been a good year," she said. So many have already been sold. It was certainly worth the trip. I am enclosing a couple of photos of the beautiful new roses on Mum's special table.

While John is so patient and gives me a hard time, he loves nothing more than seeing the beautiful roses throughout the house. He was determined to have his hydrangeas grow, so we are looking forward to having some gorgeous blooms with the new bushes. He tells me now; he is not sure whether I am the rose queen or the hydrangea queen, all the while enjoying the fun. The garden is undoubtedly my happy place, and I love that I can pick half a dozen new roses each day.
After all the beautiful rain, our garden is looking amazing with the hedges in full bloom and the gardenias almost ready to bloom.

I thought this quote from Adele Basheer was so fitting to close today- Love Life Wonderful– When you pour love into what you do, you will always be doing something you love. So true when it comes to the garden – such a blessing.
Wishing you all the blessings of peace, health and happiness.
Love Annette
