How Social Media Has Turned Into A Blessing

On the eve of this coming Easter guess like us most of you will be spending Easter Connecting in the modern way.

Who would have thought all those months ago when we started to learn more about the social media platform how beneficial it was going to become. It has undoubtedly been a blessing.

Last night I was approached by our Minister to do a reading for the Good Friday Service at Church. The email came with the reading along with who was going to be in touch with me and what I would need to do. To my surprise, when the email arrived with the following instructions – go to Voice Memos- record the reading - and then email the recording to me.

Yes, we continue to challenge ourselves as we learn more and more about this platform. What was Voice Memos – wonder where you find this on the phone? Off to Mr Google – no luck – then Apple support – not taking any calls – back to Mr Google. Scrolling, scrolling wonder where to find this?

Settings no – let’s try utilities and bingo something there that looked like Voice Memos. Ok, so practice on this new app and then wonder how you email the recording to someone. After a few more attempts, success, I was able to send the recorded reading via email. Our church has been conducting the service via YouTube and FB live the last couple of Sundays as the required number of folk permitted in the church was two. Hymns all needed to be recorded, and all the necessary readings to be recorded. John and I, like so many of you, with the benefits of these platforms we will be able to attend church on Good Friday as well as Easter Sunday.

I continue to challenge myself (not without frustration) to keep learning and John is also becoming more and more interested realising this new form of communication and connection is our only chance to stay in touch with family and friends.
