Hello Special People
Let’s see what wise words Louise has for us to commence this week: - I trust myself, and I trust life to Support and protect me.
Yes, as you read this week's blog, we will almost be saying goodbye to August and welcoming Spring. It is amazing how Spring has arrived, with some days reaching the 30-degree mark. It is a lazy day here in Brisbane as I sit down to write to you. We are enjoying our walks along the river. We wait for the fog to clear and then head off. Lots and lots of bike riders, and some can be rather dangerous with the speeds they love to travel.
It has been another busy week for us. We were off to the doctor on Friday for our second Shingles injection. John decided to ask our GP to look at a lesion on his forehead that was taking forever to heal. It turned out to be a sunspot so then it was a biopsy. A normally simple procedure, but John could not stop bleeding. It took the staff an hour and a half to bring it under control. The results have just been conveyed to us, and he does have to have further minor surgery. Fortunately, our specialist fitted him in this week, so all is good apart from the healing process. Not a lot of skin on the forehead.
On a happier note, we had such a lovely weekend. We took the City Cat and sailed the Brisbane River from the University to North Shore. We took a break at Hamilton at our favourite ice cream parlour to check out how our new unit is progressing. It was a great way to spend an afternoon.
Sunday, we met up with family at Forest Hill for lunch and birthday greetings for my sister’s husband. It is always fun to celebrate special occasions. Saturday, we also caught up with Jack, our eldest grandson, to finally have his Graduation gift finalised. We had his degree framed so he can hang it in his office. It was a special morning. He knew exactly what he wanted, and the lady at the framing shop was so good with her experience. The final result will take three weeks, and we are looking forward to collection day.
Yesterday was another special day. Nutrimetics friends from many years ago were in Brisbane for the day and joined us for lunch at New Farm. Roger and Nomi were the folk we all looked up to in our early days with Nutrimetics. They are holidaying from Melbourne and, as they said, enjoying the beautiful Queensland warm weather. Plenty of old stories told with lots of laughs about our journeys together.
I am on the hunt as the week ends for someone to give us an honest update as to the finishing date of our unit at Rivello. We are receiving mixed messages. We were getting excited with the word September, but the news through the week from folk who will be our neighbours said they had official word to say there were further delays, and we are now looking at November. Today's update from the developer announced to the Management team that the crane came down, and most of the scaffolding is down, so we just must be patient. We are so blessed to have our beautiful unit here, so we are doing okay.
When I look back on the week, I realise the importance of just being in the moment. Yes, life throws us some curve balls and then some rainbows, but as Louise reminds us, "At the end of the day, I am aware that I will never live this particular day again. I am grateful to be alive." Wise words to close.
As we share our week, we thank you for your lovely feedback and trust that each of you and your family and loved ones have also enjoyed each particular day to the fullest.
Love Annette x
