Hello Special People
Let's see what our message from Louise is for September: - This month, I focus on creativity. I feel good expressing myself in all sorts of creative ways, and ideas come to me easily and effortlessly. I am willing to learn new things. I keep my mind active and alive by exploring new frontiers. Learning keeps me mentally strong. I am never too old for anything I want to do – I am always the perfect age for where I am in life. I am forever supported by the Universe, and I am unlimited in my potential!
Well, we have certainly jumped from Winter straight into Summer here in Brisbane. Not sure where Spring went. As I type this blog, I must say it is a little cooler today. A very pleasant breeze is circulating through the unit, and I am enjoying the change. As I may have mentioned before, I do not like the heat. John laughs and tells me I have no tolerance and maybe he is right when it comes to the humidity and heat.
It has been another busy week here. We were back to the doctor to have John's sunspot wound redressed, the big footy match, trips to the City to replenish my summer wardrobe (rather purchase a summer wardrobe as most of my summer clothes are in storage) and of course, the beautiful Father's Day with family.
We really enjoy the convenience of the City Cats. We learnt how easy it is to hop on and off, and strangely, on Saturday, I found myself in the Queen Street Mall with the shops open. I certainly took the opportunity to purchase a couple of cooler garments. The jumpers, scarves and boots were not serving 30+ degree heat. We were not expecting to be here for so long, nor were we expecting Spring to pass us by. The best part of the City Cats is that we are only one stop from the City Mall. A lift to the ground level works perfectly.
While we were in the City on Saturday, John suggested that we look at the new Casino. Quite lavish, but I was not impressed. We are not gamblers so that part of the place did not take long to walk through. We were looking for lunch but found the waiting list too long in both the restaurants open. Actually, it appeared to be fairly poorly organized. Maybe there was not enough staff to cater for the influx of tourists visiting, plus there was River Fire and the footy match that evening. Both restaurants had massive queues. Of course, there were plenty of gamblers. Here we were in the middle of the day and most of the gambling tables and poker machines were all busy. Not my cup of tea but I was glad we took the opportunity to see.
After leaving the Casino, we tried a couple of places in the City for lunch, but all had one-hour waiting lists, so we decided to take the City Cat and head for somewhere closer to home. Found a gorgeous Vietnamese Family Restaurant at Milton. It was such a find, and we will certainly be visiting again.
It was great to see the City so busy—a really fun atmosphere. I think the whole of Redcliffe was in town for the Footy and River Fire always attracts so many families to a night out. While the footy was not so great, River Fire was amazing. We watched it from the unit. It is such an appropriate start to the Brisbane Festival that runs for the best part of September.
John enjoyed a great Father's Day with breakfast and lunch with the families. It helped a little to heal the wounds of the disappointing Broncos match. He was disappointed that they gave in so easily on Saturday night, but Sunday was such a fun day with the family that he forgot the score.
We both love the more relaxed lifestyle in the unit and have been able to watch a couple of Netflix Series and also took in a lovely movie. "It Ends with Us" with Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni. We thoroughly enjoyed the movie, and we enjoyed the true story of "The Bank of Dave" on Netflix. Plus, if you want a more romantic miniseries ", One Day", I loved it. I have also enjoyed the additional series of "Emily in Paris".
I would love to hear if you have any special recommendations. My sister recommended "Take My Hand" and also "A Horse Named Winx", which we will put on our to-watch list. John received a lovely movie voucher for Father's Day, so we will enjoy checking out the above movies.
