Hello Special People
I hope you have coped with the torrid heat in the past week. I am one who cannot stand the heat, and poor old John certainly hears about it with lots of moans and groans when it becomes quite unbearable. He just laughs and says, "Hey Annette, there is very little I can do about it." All I can say is -thank you for the blessing of air conditioning. So many people flock to the shopping centres to avoid the soaring temperatures. I must say I can't blame them.
I have just finished reading a remarkable story, or should I say, I have just read a story of a remarkable occasion. I am sure we have all enjoyed something in our lives that revolves around great moments. Think about yourself. Was it when you were a child, while at school or later at work? While you were in business, or maybe something with your children? Or like us, our grandchildren. Or perhaps it is a story like this.
A taxi driver accepted a call from an elderly lady. He even had to go to the front door to help her to the car. Once they were mobile, the lady asked the driver if they could drive through the city on the way to their destination. The driver explained it was not the shortest route. The lady said, "It didn't matter, that she just wanted one last look at the city."
The driver quickly caught on. He turned off the meter and drove his passenger around the city for hours. She remembered where she went dancing, where she met her husband, where she worked, and so many other wonderful memories.
Her destination was a hospice, and the staff explained and asked the taxi driver how much she owed him. He told her there was nothing on the meter and bent over and gave her the biggest hug. They smiled at each other, and he drove off. He did not take another fare that day. His emotions (like mine with tears flowing down my cheeks just typing this) would not allow him.
Great moments often catch us unaware – beautifully wrapped – in what others may consider a small one.
Well done to this taxi driver. What he did is remarkable. He will remember that day for the rest of his life.
I think this sums up his day. “People may not remember exactly what you did or what you said – but – people will always remember how you made them feel.” Maya Angelou
Think about the remarkable happenings in your lives. Enjoy them over and over. You deserve them, or maybe even go out and do something remarkable.
“We can only see truly with the heart, the essential things are invisible to the eyes."
It is good to remember the power of our actions. With one small gesture, we can change a person's life for better or for worse. God puts us all in each other's lives to impact one another somehow. Look for the good in others. "Friends are angels who lift us to our feet when our wings have trouble remembering how to fly."
Thank you for all your lovely feedback and comments, and we look forward to keeping in touch.
Stay safe and cool and until next week, take care.
Sending the blessings of peace, health and happiness
Annette
