Hello Special People
I hope you all enjoyed Australia Day. John was up early. He had made our Damper the night before and could not wait to have his Australia Day breakfast – Damper and Syrup. I did try a little Damper with butter and honey but just could not do the syrup. We had a great day with lunch by the water down at Manly. Just can't believe how many boats there are in the Manly Harbor. Lovely place with lovely friends. To top off John's excitement, he had to go through an RBT on the way home. It was a huge one with 18 police doing the testing. What amazed John was the fact the police were even thinking about people breathing into tubes with Covid so ramped. He did mention this to the Officer!!!!.
This week, the real story that has touched me is about the young 26-year-old doctor who won the "Young Australian of the Year." His name is Daniel Nour. Dr Nour started a project that offers medical help to our homeless. It all began when Dr Nour came across a person having a seizure outside a train station. Stopping to help, our doctor learnt from the man's friends, who were also homeless, how they felt about doctors and medical help. "They would rather avoid treatment because they did not trust we cared, or they were worried about judgement."
So, Dr Nour set up a mobile clinic. He considered the Pandemic but pushed it aside, realising these people needed more help with Covid running wild.
In the past 18 months, "Street Side Medics" has attracted 250 GP's, nurses and allied health professionals who visit so many suburbs in Sydney helping and treating our homeless. The projects in not-for-profit providing free care to hundreds of people at shelters and food vans.
It is all kindness. So much of it around, and it is wonderful to see Dr Nour recognized.
Reading history led me to think of a local lady, Janet, from our church who took out an award at a function John and I attended before Christmas. It also was associated with the homeless. This time in Brisbane. Janet is a member of our "Sandwich Making Team." We all volunteer once a month to make boxes of sandwiches, and a Van distributes the food each morning.
Little did we know before the awards that Janet had been doing the job for 32 years. Think about it. Once a month, up at 6 a.m. to make sandwiches.
That is certainly kindness, and I can assure you this lady is so humble. She would never let you know. In fact, she wasn’t at the function to receive her recognition.
A wonderful lady, and our team is so proud of her.
"Never underestimate the power of a small act of kindness. Sometimes, a selfless gesture or a single moment of reassurance, even something as simple as a smile, can be enough to save a person. After all, even on the darkest nights, all it takes is a little light to illuminate the way forward."
I promised last week that I would keep you posted on the juice detox. Well, I am proud to say that I did stay the distance with the 7-day juice detox. While I didn't really feel hungry, it was around 5 p.m. in the afternoon when John was cooking his dinner that I found it most difficult. The smell of the veggies cooking did test the taste buds. I have decided to continue with the juice and shakes but will only continue with the 5 and 2—five days on normal food and then 2 days on the juices and shakes.
I was so amazed at the successful combinations that Jason put together. Previously I thought juices were about carrots and apples and celery, and shakes were about bananas and milk, but the last seven days have introduced us to a whole new world on shakes and juices. Even have John trying out some.
Our monthly wellness treat today, and we have just returned from our decadent massages. I look forward to this day, and today Heather treated us with a special immune boost oil which was so beautiful. We are combining this with our new capsules from the Compounding Lab in Albion - Vaccine support. A custom nutrient formula to support our immune system in the time of vaccines with Covid formulated by Chris Testa's Tugun compounding pharmacy. We just need to keep a strong focus on keeping our immune system as strong as possible while the Covid is floating around.
We trust that each of you are doing something similar to ensure you keep safe and well.
By the time you are reading this week's blog, January will almost be a memory – is it just me, or is this happening to you as well? That precious commodity of time seems to be going quicker each day, so enjoy every moment.
Until next week we send our love and blessings and thank you all for your beautiful comments and feedback.
Cheers Annette
