Hello Special People
We are just home from a fabulous eight days in Queenstown, New Zealand. We enjoyed all types of weather, but nothing could dampen our spirits in this beautiful part of the world. Rain the first day, and then brilliant sunshine apart from the last two days when it began snowing. I was so excited. We were coming off the Steamboat with the snowflakes falling on us. The mountains and the ground were covered. I was busily taking as many photos as I could. In fact, I persuaded John to go out early the next morning to get more photos. It had snowed all night. Our car was covered and looked like a big snowball. My excitement took a different perspective when someone mentioned, "The planes are not flying." I quickly lost the snow excitement. On our last morning at breakfast, John was confident everything would be alright and was keen to get going to return the hire car and get to the airport. The manager of Hulbert House, where we stayed, was not sure that this was the best idea. However, after a conversation with the hire car people, it was all systems go, and as the day progressed, the planes were back in the sky, and apart from an hour's delay, there were no hiccups.
So, snow is great and lots of fun, but it can also dampen your spirits very quickly.
Hulbert House was amazing. So relaxing. A full change of linen every day, and every time you moved, someone was alongside you, offering help. Certainly, a decadent, dream holiday accommodation. The area around Queenstown, Gibbston Valley, is renowned for its Pinot Noir wines. I can certainly recommend them as well. I also fell in love with the Pinot Noir Rose. A pink wine made from the Pinot Noir grapes. I had to bring a couple of bottles of this home. We did a little bit of harm with a dozen mixed on the way, but the freight actually takes the gloss off purchasing. Extremely pretty countryside and the townships of Cromwell, Wanaka, Glenorchy, Arrowtown and Walter Peak are all worth a visit. Of course, Queenstown is all about the magnificent Lake Wakatipu and the surrounding mountains. So, picture postcard perfect.
Treasured memories forever. I was in flower heaven as all the spring bulbs, tulips, daffodils, rhododendron and tulip magnolias in the Queenstown gardens were breathtaking.
Now I am back to work. So busy with our Nutrimetics Christmas releases happening. A wonderful array of products for Christmas, and I am excited about this. The Christmas brochure is exceptional. So lucky I came home refreshed because October and November are going to be busy, busy, busy. The packaging of all the products this year is exceptional. Very classy and of exceptional quality.
There was one funny story from the holiday that I will share with you all. We had been to lunch across the lake, and the hotel had a taxi waiting for us on our return. The guy took us on a longer way than was necessary, and when we got to the hotel, John asked how much? He said $11-20. John thought he said $7-20, gave him $10 and jumped out, saying, " Keep the change, mate." I was laughing, realizing John hadn't heard him properly and thinking he had been kind giving him a tip. Poor John was quite embarrassed when he realized what he had done. The staff at the hotel thought it was hilarious, and John was the joke of the evening around the lounge fire.
It was an exceptional eight days, and while it replaced our 2020 trip, which was to be to the Maldives, it was even better than I could have wished to celebrate my birthday and our 56th wedding anniversary. We thank so many of you who sent wishes for both occasions.
We trust that each of you have enjoyed a happy week, and we look forward to keeping in touch in these exciting months leading up to Xmas.
Cheers Annette
