Hello Everyone
June – "This is a wonderful month for offering the gift of service. Every day I find a way to express patience, encouragement, support, forgiveness or appreciation. I find fulfilment in blessing those around me." I love these words from Louise Hay to commence our month.
How are you all shaping up to the first taste of winter? It certainly came quickly.
John and I had to go searching for our warmer clothes on Monday. John started the morning in his shorts and T-shirt, but he had had enough by mid-morning and reappeared in his tracksuit. He is not a winter person, and you will hear plenty of moaning and groaning in the next three months. For me, it is heaven. I love to see the trees changing colour, the leaves dropping and being able to get out there in the nippy fresh air. I tell John you simply must dress for the occasion or, in this case, the weather. He is not good at listening and wonders why he is shivering.
I think we must all admit the weather has been changeable or even unpredictable.
Some would say life can be the same. Life doesn't always go to plan. Sometimes heading in a new direction can be scary until you realize you are headed towards a new and exciting destination.
The destination is what we need to focus on. How many times have you heard – set your goals and take it step by step, and you will achieve whatever you want. Sometimes we may have to change course and direction. Change can be hard. We get set in so many ways. Change can be hard at first, perhaps messy in the middle, but the end result is often gorgeous. So, guess the message here is not to be afraid to accept change if it is warranted.
John said after the Broncos won on Friday night, they accepted they had to change at half-time, and that resulted in a great ending. Funny how these menfolk always relate the message back to their sport.
I mentioned last week how the cold weather invites the winter soups, and I have been experimenting again this week with a couple of new recipes. I think my favourite this week has been creamy roasted cauliflower soup. My favourite accompaniment has been red cabbage, fennel and apple, which were so yummy. I would love to hear what has been happening in your kitchens this week – any extra special dishes? Something I really love at this time of the year is being in the kitchen cooking delicious meals.
Let's close for this week with the beautiful quote from Adele Basheer – "Make today wonderful – Every time you rise up, you grow stronger. You shine brighter. It's your bravery that creates your brilliance."
Until next week take care and stay warm, and we send the blessings of peace, health and happiness.
Love Annette
