Hello everyone and while one week of the New Year has already past would love to reflect on Louise Hay's message to us for January. "In the infinity of life where I am, all is perfect, whole, and complete, and yet life is ever-changing. Life is never stuck or static or stale, for each moment is ever new and fresh. Every moment of life is a new beginning point as we move from the old. This moment is a new point of beginning for me right here and right now. All is well in my world."
Well, it is great to see positive action as the good old Covid raises its head once again. Not easy to make tough decisions, but I know we all realise it is for the best and is protecting our lives. Too many other countries have let the virus get out of control before taking action, so we have to be thankful for the decisions we have to abide by. Let's hope it is just for three days.
In fact, I am hoping the lockdown is over on Monday. Mum turns 95 on Thursday, and I have organised a special morning tea for her at her favourite café, James Street Grocer in Toowoomba. Family and friends have been organised for a surprise, and it would be a shame if John and I are unable to attend. After her discharge from hospital, she has been transferred to Respite to continue her treatment on her broken elbow. She is the most amazing example of strength and courage. The fractured arm is her right arm which she relies on heavily as her left shoulder has caused her a lot of pain so to see her now having to do everything with her left hand brings tears to your eyes. She did make me smile when speaking with her this morning when she mentioned not being keen to go to the dining room for meals and when I asked her why the comment "They are all very old" says she turning 95 on Thursday. We would love your prayers this week for us so that we are able to be with her to celebrate this amazing milestone on Thursday.
While preparing today's blog and reflecting on Mum this last week, the word Courage kept coming back to me. So many people have been called upon to show courage in this past week. For me, courage can be physical, social, moral, emotional and spiritual. They all call for bravery differently. We will all be called upon to show courage at some time in our lives. It may be when we have to do something we don't like or perhaps something we fear. Lowering our standards to go along with the crowd will never pass for courage. Assess the situation, and if you feel your ideas are better than those being proposed, then it is time to be assertive and suggest alternate and perhaps better ways. Don’t be afraid to take the initiative and promote putting forward your ideas. We can be surprised how much satisfaction we feel by simply showing the courage to speak up.
As I look back on my journey with Nutrimetics, I can see the times I had to dig deep to produce the courage I needed for various situations. With my bank background, I was never trained in cosmetics, but here I was entering the world of cosmetics. What I had been blessed with was a great work ethic, integrity and the desire to give good customer service, which helped overcome the fears in those early days. I certainly had loads of learning in front of me. I was keen to move quickly to achieve the company car that we needed to support our family situation with Leisa away studying in Brisbane. So I guess I have some of Mum’s spirit required to tackle the courage. Those first baby steps were not easy, and by setting those small goals and achieving them gave me the courage to take the bigger steps and set those bigger goals.
My message here is if I can do it, anyone can. Fear is with us so many times, but I believe courage is the answer.
As we commenced with Louise Hay's message and while we have been discussing courage, her message to us today is appropriate. “As I flow with Life, I easily release all struggle. Only good comes to me now."
2021 is a New Beginning for us all – as Adele Basheer reminds us – “Let us be grateful for the lessons of the year past and the possibilities of the year ahead, It’s time to create to dream and make life a new kind of wonderful” and with Courage as our companion this is possible for all of us.
Until next week, take care, stay safe, and we send each of you the blessings of good health and happy times for the year ahead.
Love Annette
