Hello Special People
Well, another exciting week in the French household. Last week I mentioned we were off to the Lions to sell the 50/50 raffle tickets for our Charity, The Coffee Brigade. What a fun night we had. I enjoyed approaching people and asking them for their support. The raffle is well worthwhile. It is called a 50/50 raffle, with the winner receiving half of the money raised and the other half going to the nominated Charity. In this case, The Coffee Brigade. John was my offsider out there, inviting people to where I was standing with the IPad ready to go. The total raised for the night was $16500, with one lucky patron taking home $8250 and our Charity strengthening their bank account with the other $8250. We started selling out on the lawn just near the main entrance, and once the game commenced, we were allowed on the extremely hot concourse under the stands. John was up every exit alley trying to see as much of the game as he could and also on his phone trying to keep up with the scores in the Broncos v Dolphins match.
Security at the Gabba were tough on him. Each time he settled down to watch the Lions, a security guy would give him the word to move on. No standing in these areas was the call. There was just one downside to my successful night. I picked my most comfortable shoes to wear on the night, knowing we would be on our feet for 5 hours. Will, our grandson, dropped us at the Gabba. I had only taken a few steps, and yes, the sole of the most comfortable shoes was flapping. I just could not believe it. A blowout before we even commenced the evening. So I was rather uncomfortable foot-wise for the entire time we were selling. I did, however, completely remove the soles of the old comfy shoes on the way home, and they exist no longer.
Saturday, we ventured to the Sunshine Coast and only came home today – Thursday. We needed some RnR I can assure you, after five hours on our feet at the Gabba in the heat at the end of a very busy couple of weeks. The coast was the answer. So, it has been mixed with catching up with different groups of friends. We enjoyed a great brunch with folk we met in Queenstown last year. They are new grandparents and eager to find out how we handled our early days as Granny and Pa. The rest of our time was spent with our longtime friends from our Kindy days with the children. It is always a special time. Lots of fun stories along with yummy dinners and lunches.
We love to explore and find different places to eat. This coincided with Open table sending me the best overall restaurants on the Sunshine Coast. We were able to check out their recommendations which covered fine dining to the tiny country town of Eudlo, and the Eudlo General store famous for their homemade pies. While the ladies were happy with the pies, the men were a little disappointed. They were both really looking forward to having one of these super pies, but both admitted they were a little overrated. Apparently, the boys know their pies!!!
Today we were back to our exercises at QUT, and tomorrow back to our Aqua Yoga, so routine returns quickly.
March for us has been busy, fun and full of the blessings of treasured friends, and we trust that for each of you and your family, the month has also been all that you would wish. So would love to close for this week with the beautiful message from Adele Basheer – Joy and Happiness – A beautiful life grows from the moments we create, the moments we love, and the moments we live.
Take care and stay safe
Love Annette
