Hello Special People
We hope you are all enjoying our first taste of winter. I Am enjoying it, but poor John is already complaining. He really makes me laugh. If he is going to a footy match, it does not matter what the weather is like, but sitting at home, he lets me know he is not keen on the cold. Mind you, he is up at 6.30 a.m. every morning to take our grandsons to work, which he loves. We are such opposites when it comes to the weather – he enjoys the heat, while I enjoy the cooler weather.
We certainly love having Mark and Amy home. We didn't realize just how much we have missed them living in NZ. We had a beautiful night with them on Sunday. Mark was the chef and served up delicious steak and, of course, the wine to go with it.
I mentioned last week their unit is so close to Suncorp Stadium, and the boys loved hearing the cheering from the stadium and were rushing to their phones to see which team had scored. The Magic Round was such a super event. Almost 150,000 attended over the three days. I am amazed at how quickly 50,000 people can be dispersed after the event. The public transport is so well organized with buses and trains one after the other, and the traffic is back to normal within an hour.
Mark and Amy did not attend any of the games, but they walked to the surrounds of the stadium a couple of times and simply enjoyed the fun and the atmosphere of the patrons before they entered the stadium. The Magic Round is such an important event for Brisbane.
On Saturday night, we are off to the Lions. I always look forward to the Gabba crowd, and this will be our first game this season. It is always well-controlled, and the atmosphere is such fun. While I love attending the games, I certainly do not enjoy what must happen prior. Arranging our tickets online. Our grandchildren continue to find all this so easy, but for John and me, we still seem to struggle with this platform having to do it all online. I am always nervous when we get to the game to know whether I am going to be able to find the necessary scan for the tickets on my phone. Certainly, a sign of the difference in the age generation.
Reflecting on the age generation, I will have Kat pop up the latest Podcast from our grandson Will and his friend Charlie – "The Business Of", as their latest Podcast was an interview with Graham Turner, the CEO of Flight Centre Travel Group. Such an interesting interview as he shared his journey from a kid growing up on the family Apple farm in Stanthorpe and his journey to the evolution of Flight Centre. I love learning and hearing the background of these highly successful folk and hope you also find the interview insightful.
We are so looking forward to next week as we head off to the Sunny Coast to spend a few nights with my younger sister Lesley and her husband, Rob. We love our time together, and with them still living in Toowoomba, it gives us time to catch up, enjoy some yummy seafood, share a few wines and have a good laugh. I love my sisters and treasure our time together. Our 'girlie' weekends with Mum were always one of my favourites. Our middle sister Dianne is enjoying time in Boston with her family at the moment and loving Spring with all the bulbs flowering.
As I looked for something to share to close today thought this one rather special from Adele Basheer – “Joy – Happiness. A beautiful life grows from the moments we create, the moments we love, and the moments we live.”
We enjoy sharing our week with you all and love when we receive your feedback on how much you enjoy receiving our blogs. We wish each of you the blessings of a happy and healthy week as you stay warm with more winter weather on the way.
Love Annette
