Hello Special People….and all at once, summer collapsed into fall. Oscar Wilde. How I love this gorgeous autumn weather. It is one of my favourite seasons of the year. While I love Spring, there is a crispness in the air, while in autumn, there is a softness in the air.
While we have loved our move to Brisbane, one of the things I miss most about our home in Toowoomba was the large liquid Amber in the front garden, which always heralded the commencement of Autumn and Spring.
I thought my quote in the diary to commence this week was so fitting with the softness of these Autumn days – reminding us to "Be gentle with yourself."
This week I have been inspired by the kindness of people. I know it is always there, but I am sure you will agree disaster brings it to the fore.So many people have dug deep into their budgets and time to help those devastated by the floods in both Qld and New South Wales. You see these people helping the cleanup on the television each night. There are just as many working behind the scenes. None of them seeks recognition, but they certainly deserve any that comes their way.
Even Nutrimetics came up with a beautiful idea to help those in need. In the last week in February, they produced Mystery Bags on sale for $25 but worth far more than the asking price. Our field team took them on board and asked our clients if they would love to donate a Mystery Bag to someone in need. The response was phenomenal. Some of the team even personalized the bags with a tag telling those who received them who supplied the bag for them. Guess what? The donors have had some replies. It just shows how kindness is appreciated. Well done to Nutrimetics, and a big Well Done to the field teams who accepted the challenge and received wonderful results.
Nutrimetics have released a couple of super priced packs for our Self Care Event last night, If you would like to purchase one of these packs for someone in need, I will see to it that they are delivered out through my avenues in the church. I know I have spoken about Kedron Brook Creek many times. It is the creek that runs along our walking track. I have shown you photos of devastation after heavy rain. But my goodness, I can tell you nothing matches up with what John and I have witnessed this week. Huge trees have been picked up by the force of the water and have come to rest against bridges we walk across and even across the path in several places. Many, many houses are cleaning out the mud and silt. Our council is out in full force and have done a remarkable job clearing the streets, but it will take them many months to clear the creek and have the parkland back to normal.
At the moment, we hold our breath each time a dark cloud passes over. We certainly look forward to the beautiful sunshine we are having this week. I am sure you will join with me in saluting everyone who has played a role in helping those in need. As we focus on kindness this week, I would also love to share with all of you the offer the company have released this week for you to be able to shop online direct for your beautiful products. This is the kindest thing I can share with you all this week. As I reflect on the last 36 years, I am so appreciative and grateful that Kay Houghton kindly shared this opportunity with me.
Yes, John is more relaxed this week. If you were not aware, the Broncos won their first game of the season on Friday night. He was there to cheer them on, and it was great to see the smile on his face when I went to pick him up. Enjoy this beautiful season as Vincent Van Gogh sums it up perfectly – "As long as autumn lasts, I shall not have hands, canvas and colours enough to paint the beautiful things I see."
Sending the blessings of peace, health and happiness to each of you.
Annette
