Hello Special People
“Be glad and be grateful."
Another wet day here in Brisbane. I was speaking with my sister in Toowoomba, and she could not believe it was raining down here. "Beautiful, clear blue sky here" was the response. Amazing how we can be only an hour and a half apart and have the weather completely different.
Well, the weather aside, the big news from us this week is we are downsizing. Yes, it is a bit of a shock, but in the past few months, we have found this beautiful Windsor Road property just too much to handle both indoors and outside. Maybe we are finally getting old. We realised that either we made the decision or the decision would be made for us. So where are we going? We have purchased a unit at Portside looking out over the Brisbane River, something we are both really looking forward to. The unit is still under construction, hoping to be completed in June. So, we are in the process of decluttering and what a process it is. It is a huge downsizing from a two-story, 4 bedroom home to a three-bedroom Unit. I think most of you will realise the magnitude of the task ahead for us. Packing up our home and moving to a new one is an adventure. Full of new possibilities and exciting.
Windsor Road is going to be on the market from February. Our agent is busily organising stylists and photographers and claims he already has feelers out there. The stylist really had some set ideas. While there was not a lot to change, there were the small titbits that she wanted moving. Being a grandmother of 6 children and having travelled locally and internationally for most of our life, there were certainly lots of photographs and memories around the home. John didn't handle the stylist wanting to remove a lot of our photos, etc. He loved the photos and trinkets we have collected on our travels around the home. They will be packed nicely to join us again in our new home. The unit we have chosen has ticked many of the boxes we were looking for, so we are looking forward to June rolling on so we can be down by the river.
“Happiness doesn’t have just one address.”
Oh my gosh, this heat in the past week. The aircon has been going day and night. (Incidentally, the monthly power account arrived today, which certainly indicated plenty of aircon usage!!!) John makes his way outside when the inside gets too cool. He can stand the cool but not extra cool or cold, as he lets me know as he leaves. I think he will spend most of his time on the balcony when we take up residence at Portside. Maybe I won't feel the heat so much down by the river, and I certainly will not be out in the garden. Speaking of the garden, that is something I will really miss. It is hard work, but the heat aside, I do love pottering out in the garden. It was a big part of our discussion when we were deciding to downsize. John was the opposite. He is so looking forward to getting away from the hedges and the lawns.
As I am sure you can imagine, the next few months will be interesting—lots to think about and lots to look forward to. Here’s to our exciting adventure in our unit as we create new and happy memories, and we wish each of you new adventures and the opportunity to create happy memories in 2024.
Love Annette
