Hello Special People
Well, I just received the greatest text message I have had in a while: "The QUT Gym is closed on Thursday and Friday." John was wondering what all the cheering was about. We were due to be back for our first session for 2024 this morning.
"Thinking – there is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so". Shakespeare.
Yes, I may have mentioned once or twice how much I dislike the place, so when the text came through, there was plenty of relief. But as John said, the extra week without exercise will only make it tougher when we start next Thursday. Very practical, my husband. I'll enjoy this week without the pain, though. We commenced our Aqua Yoga last week, so we are back into the swing of things there.
Declutter, declutter, declutter is all I can hear now. The house enters the market in early February. So, we are mindful that we must keep going, finding things we will never use again and getting rid of them. Our kitchen table and chairs went last week. A beautiful wooden table and six chairs handcrafted some 40 years ago were snapped up by my sister. I was delighted to see it was going to a place where it will continue to be looked after in the same fashion as we have. The table would not have fitted into the unit we are moving into, so it was a blessing to have someone able to enjoy it. Yes, many bargains will be coming up in the next few months. Stay tuned.
We have just completed a new side fence, and what a disaster. I did not realize how stark the new pine palings would be. I looked out and thought I might have an issue with planes trying to land here; it is so bright. I would love the old, grey, weathered fence back. This new fence stands out like a beacon from a lighthouse. John is trying to help by suggesting we get it painted, and I guess that may be the solution. He also believes it would be a good selling point next month if it stands out. I think I will decide to go with the painting. In hindsight, we would have been better off leaving the fence as it was. With all the rain, the lawns and gardens did not appreciate the heavy builders’ boots going backwards and forwards. So, all that is in recovery mode and hopefully recovering by the end of the month. Always something to challenge us.
With such a full-on week, we are both looking forward to massages this afternoon. I also have a decadent gift of a Pedicure from the family to enjoy today, so both these treatments will help with the much-needed de-stress. I can tell John is also feeling things now, which is so unlike him. I will have Kat pop in a couple of gorgeous photos from our massage clinic as we watch the commencement of the Brisbane night sky light up.
Hasn't the rain been excellent for most of us? Everything looks so green and healthy. We had a trip to Toowoomba on Sunday, and the whole way was the best I have ever seen the countryside. I know the rain has not been well received in other areas,, and I feel for those folks. It is just a shame it can’t be equaled out. In fact, even here in Brisbane, a good drying week would be good.
On our way to our massage, we had a text from our grandson Will, who does the Business Of podcasts, saying he had just uploaded a new podcast, which he knew I would love. He was so right – Ronni Kahn, who founded Ozharvest. What an inspirational lady. I hope you all enjoy it as much as I did. It is so pertinent as it affects each of us. While I won't spoil the interview, I loved her closing remarks – "Always add value to yourself but also add value to the world." The simple truth is – that we all just want to be accepted, respected, appreciated, heard and loved. Until next week, take care, and we send love,
Annette.
