Hello Special People
"There are not many things in life as special as a Grandson. They fill each day with happiness, with laughter and with fun. From the moment they were born, they have made each day worthwhile. Nothing could be better to fill our hearts than to see them happy, healthy and with a smile."
Can you believe the eldest of our five grandsons turned 25 on Saturday? He was out enjoying what he loves, playing cricket, and, may I say, he picked up a 50 not out. Lovely birthday gift. So, there was no celebration on Saturday, but on Sunday, it was off to the Regatta Boat house for the special occasion. I can clearly remember the day Jack came into the world. John and I were in Sydney for a Nutrimetics meeting. We had spent the weekend with Craig and Leisa and moved into a city hotel on Sunday night. Early Monday morning, Craig phoned to say they were at the hospital. The nursing staff didn't really think Leisa was ready and sent them to have coffee. How wrong they were; by lunchtime, John and I had excused ourselves from the meeting and were in a cab on our way to meet our first grandson. He was two weeks early, and Leisa still tells the story of how she had spoken to him the night before, telling him his Granny and Pa were in Sydney and it would be nice to come into the world tonight or tomorrow. He followed the request to a tee, and Granny and Pa were at the Mater hospital within an hour of his birth. It was a wonderful experience, and I will never forget John's excitement at having his first grandson. This weekend, we will be out there cheering him on in his Touch football Grand Final. Jack, like our other grandchildren, has and continues to give us so much love and happiness. I say to John that our grandchildren are a blessing from God.
Oh my gosh, can you believe this heat? Aircon on overdrive in all rooms. We both have been restless at night. John is still having a little trouble with his pain. Tests are not showing anything so we are starting to believe he may have strained something at our exercise program. He does go a little crazy on weights and rowers, so it is not surprising. Attending the gym after a three-week break with his sore thumb (Dr French here and Mr Google) thinks he has overdone things. He was back to the doctor yesterday with more tests to follow. For someone who is on one tablet (blood thinner) and does not even take a Panadol, I must admit this is out of character.
Saturday, we decided to take in a movie and then go to dinner. So late afternoon, we went to see Lee, the True Story about an American lady, a photographer, who decided she wanted to go into the action in World War Two and send photos back to show everyone what was really happening. I won't spoil things and say too much more. I love true stories, and while I thought it was a little heavy, I think it is a movie we all should see. Kate Winslet is amazing. Dinner at Le Coin was most enjoyable.
Mathilda joined Jack in the “Stain Soaking Club” this week. While we were at Jack's birthday celebrations, she asked me if I could look at some white pieces of clothing she had been trying to launder. So, with plenty of soaking, scrubbing, Stain remover, Hevi clean, we finally had the garments back to beaming white. She was so excited when we took them back to her at Uni. It gives me so much pleasure helping them with these little tasks. I am sure more will come with all the students celebrating their end of year.
We have just finished the second series of The Resident on Netflix. This may have in some way contributed to our restless nights as we set a record for getting through the whole series in two or three nights.
As we approach Christmas, we are reminded that it is a time of giving, and we would love to give a big thank you to each of you for your lovely feedback on our blogs each week. 2024 has been a busy year for all of us….and the one thing we are most grateful for is you.
As we close for the week, we send the blessings of peace, health and happiness. Stay cool and safe as we weather these daily storms.
Love Annette x
