Hello Special People
Joy is what happens to us when we allow ourselves to recognize how good things really are. Marianne Williamson
I would love to commence this week's blog by recommending a great movie we saw at the weekend. "Unsung Hero" check it out as it may be on in a theatre near you. John and I went last weekend, and I am the movie's best marketing tool. I loved it so much. We both had a laugh and a cry and came away so excited to see a good old "feel good" movie: no bad language, no violence and the most precious storyline. I will not be a spoiler and go into depth to spoil it for you. I will leave it for you to enjoy and make up your own mind. I will look forward to your thoughts and feedback.
I must be honest and tell you we had not heard about it and had recommended it to us. We were at Aqua Yoga, and the lady who owns the pool called us aside when we were leaving to show us an article about her son, Anthony, who is the deputy CEO of Westpac Bank. The conversation led to her family and what they had achieved. A daughter won a Gold Medal in Water Polo at an earlier Olympics, a grand daughter plays sevens for the Lady Wallabies and then this led into my daughter in law was playing the lead role in the beautiful movie called "Unsung Hero." An unbelievable true family story of an Australian family who, through circumstance, found themselves in America. Our lady friend and the other family members are so humble and modest. They run a bunch of swimming pools here in Brisbane, and following up on the story of the eldest son – the Westpac CEO – we find he was a brilliant swimmer in his teens and only missed the Seol Olympics due to illness.
Our grandson, Will, is keen to have a conversation with Anthony to encourage him to be a guest on one of his weekly Spotify Podcasts. "The Business of". Will will be in Sydney at the end of June, starting his internship with JP Morgan. He is really looking forward to it and assures me he will find time to meet Anthony from Westpac while he is down there. We will keep you posted and have Kat pop up the interview in the next few months. The boys are completely booked with their guests up to August, so we will hear the interview a little later in the year. Their Podcasts are doing well, and they have been blessed with some extremely interesting guests. I will ask Kat to pop up their last interview with Rochelle Courtenay, the Founder of Share the Dignity, for you to enjoy.
Our family is back from America, and it was great to catch up with them this week. We enjoyed our normal halfway lunch at Forest Hill, which also gave us a chance to look at the cute little ladies' dress boutique while we were there. Dianne and Keith had a great time with their grandchildren in America. They loved the opportunity to enjoy the blossoming Spring blooms this visit. They intend to keep their annual trip to see the family going for as long as they can.
John's smile from the State of Origin success was short-lived when I picked him up from the Broncos match on Saturday night. He just cannot understand how a game can change so quickly. While I don't want to hear about it, there is no alternative. He analyses the whole 80 minutes. I think he would really enjoy a coaching role. I think our eldest grandson, Jack, has some of his genes. Jack is a wonderful basketball coach. He has had great success with schoolboy sides. He is so particular about his plan for every game and instils so much confidence in his players. Jack has retired now, but we loved watching him and how he built sides from a very low standard to win premierships.
It is still relatively cool here in Brisbane. However, I have my winter routine in action and am enjoying the cooler weather.
My smile for this week was the fun of my new app on the phone. My girlfriend from school shared it with me while we were having lunch. I am always interested in learning more about health and nutrition and this little app "Yuka" is so valuable. The idea is that you can scan the bar codes on food items, and it will give you a score – good, bad, poor, etc.- and explain why the product is given this rating. It then gives you healthier alternatives. I love taking it out when shopping now to find healthier alternatives. I must admit I do get some raised eyebrows from John.
We thank so many of you for your lovely feedback as you find a common interest as we share our week with the happenings of your family and loved ones.
As we close for this week, let's "Give every day the chance to become the most beautiful day of our life." Mark Twain.
Take care, stay warm, and we send the blessings of peace, health and happiness from our home to each of your homes.
Love Annette x
