Hello Special People
This week, my full focus is on gratitude. Louise shares a lovely message for today: I am so grateful for my life; I appreciate everyone and everything.
Yes, well, the email has been fixed. What a relief, and thank you to so many of you who offered advice on how to fix the problem and to those of you who told me how to approach and deal with Telstra. Telstra has survived, but I have accepted the advice that I should have a backup g-mail address. So that is all done, and I am back smiling again, albeit with a very good life lesson for me on gratitude.
John and I watched the true story of the refugee swimmers from Syria who went on to win a Gold Medal at the Olympics. What a lesson for me. I may have been inconvenienced without emails coming, but I did not have to suffer the effects of bombs shattering lives and buildings as these young girls experienced. Hence, my attitude of gratitude to the fore.
Expressing gratitude is usually a small act and does not usually require any great plans or actions – it’s relatively easy to do, is enjoyable, and leaves you feeling warm and fuzzy inside. Gratitude is a thank you, a hug, a kiss, a handwritten letter, a nice text, a journal entry – and positively affects both you and me, and more than likely, all of the people we come into contact with after gratitude is expressed. My lesson for moving forward is to make gratitude a more prominent part of my life.
We have enjoyed a busy and happy week. John is back on grandchildren duty. He has had 6 a.m. starts this week with a visit to the airport to take Will, who is off skiing in Queenstown, New Zealand, with friends. It was, "Pa, can you take me to the airport in the morning, please?" Leisa and Craig have been in Sydney as Craig's law firm had their awards night, and he was amongst the nominees. So, Mathilda had to get to school and home again. John jumped at the opportunity without realizing she had a 6:30 a.m. start for netball practice. He has been rugging up for these early starts. He loves his time with Mathilda. She is a keen McDonald's fan, and the only person who will take her through McDonald's is Pa.
Our thoughts go to the weekend, and we have a lovely weekend ahead. We are enjoying dinner with family on Friday night, off to the Lions-Geelong AFL match late Saturday afternoon, and we are joining the family to celebrate John's brother's birthday for lunch on Sunday. We are looking forward to all the occasions.
The Nutrimetics new ordering system has been a challenge. I must admit I am not keen on change. Of course, with changes like this, we do not have a choice. We have to accept we will win through and accept that change is for the better. I am studying the tutorials daily, and yes, it seems to be getting easier.
Just another opportunity for me to practice my gratitude. Often, gratitude gets overlooked or dismissed compared to the "more significant" priorities of the day, like my emails, working on new ordering systems and holding meetings. But when gratitude is expressed every day, multiple times per day, it has the potential to unleash a powerful compound effect.
We trust that each of you and your loved ones has also enjoyed a happy and healthy week, and we send our blessings of thanks.
Take care, stay warm, keep healthy and have fun.
Love Annette
