Hello Special People
Well, the quietness around the house at the moment is eerie!
We are certainly missing the family and having all the grandchildren around. We enjoyed a phone call from Johnny, our eldest grandson, in New Zealand yesterday, and that did set the heart beating again. However, we are missing the excitement, the extra laughter and chatter, the breakfast orders and the fun board games. I have tried to break the quietness by starting to exercise. We are back at the Gym on Monday, so I thought walking this week would warm me up for what is ahead.
I have finally removed the tape off my nose, and while it is still a little tender, I am pleased with the end result. I will be giving the Platinum DNA a good work over now to ensure there are no extra lines. Good to have the tape off and things starting to return to normal.
We are off to Toowoomba on Saturday to remember Mum's birthday. We still talk about her almost every single day. She played such an important role in ours and so many other family members' lives. My sister, Lesley and Dianne are arranging flowers, and we will all go to the Garden of Remembrance together on Saturday afternoon. Memories will be many, and I am sure there will be plenty of reminiscing. John, Keith and Rob love reminding us of various occasions. They used to argue to see who her favourite son-in-law was. I think Mum was smart enough to play on it and loved all the attention. We found a great Sauv blanc from New Zealand named Peggy while we were holidaying in Sydney last year, and we have one of the boutique wineries endeavouring to have some bottles here by tomorrow to take up with us to enjoy at lunch to surprise the rest of the family.
Watering duties will be on the cards this afternoon. It has really warmed up, and the garden needs a drop each day. The few roses we have left loved the hot weather. Flowers and buds everywhere. It has been a great year for them, and I have loved receiving the messages from the ladies who purchased the ones we have sold, letting us know how much they are loving their flowers.
We took in the new Tom Hank's movie on Sunday. "The Man called Otto." Such a lovely movie and how one man's kindness can make such a difference. So many lessons in it. But I won’t spoil it for many of you by telling you the story. You may love to pop along to see it. You will understand what I mean. Tom Hanks is such a great actor and deserves all his success. We are enjoying being able to be back at the movies on the big screen. Just another part of life returning to normal.
We have just returned home with some great news from John’s specialist dermatologist. After his GP removed a skin cancer on his head with the biopsy coming back needing further treatment, we decided to contact his dermatologist, who had just returned from a month's leave. We were blessed that he gave John an appointment today. He was able to do a skin shave on the type of cancer it was, so there was no need for the plastic surgeon etc., that was initially discussed. We were both so happy and grateful and just need to wait for the final biopsy results to ensure that it had all been removed.
As we are still in January, there is still plenty of time to trigger your imagination around setting intentions for 2023. These are a few areas I have been pursuing:- Where do I want to be at the end of 2023: Health improvements: improve relationships: communicate better without judgement: where do we want to holiday this year: how do I want to give back to the community? I would love to hear your intentions for 2023 if you are happy to share.
So that is us for the second week of January, and I share Louise Hay's message for today – "I am deeply grateful for everything in my life." Until next week take care, stay safe and be kind to you. Cheers Annette
