Hello Special People
As I sit to type this blog, I realise that with a blink of an eye, we are almost halfway through January with the thought from Louise Hay “ I Let go of all expectations. People, places, and things are free to be themselves, and I am free to be me.”
Well, several black garbage bags are full, and we are still decluttering here. How could I keep so much? Why did I? Heaven knows! Last week, I told you how I found stories of Imelda Roche and Mary Wagner. Well, in the same magazine as these ladies was another Toowoomba success story.
This one also had reference as this article was about a company I started my working career with. Yes, I commenced work at Taylor’s Removalist in North Street Toowoomba. I will never forget my short time with them. They were such kind people, and I am not surprised they are still in business and doing so well. Gosh, I have such memories of that first position. Mum took me to town to purchase a work uniform, a work bag, work shoes etc. And to say I was excited was an understatement. I walked to work each day and loved that I had been given this opportunity.
The Bank of New South Wales position popped up for me shortly afterwards, so I moved on, but Taylors gave me my start into the work force. They are still family-owned and are now headed by one of the daughters Melissa Taylor. Melissa saw the family business as a legacy, and there was no way she was going to let it be passed on. She sees her position as Managing Director as humbling, exciting and defining. But you can tell from the article that her passion, drive, and belief led to Taylors' ongoing success. Melissa took over from her Dad, Ray, who is the son of Fred, and while she has added her ideas to the business's success, she has nothing but kind words for her Dad.
I love this career tip from her. Love what you do. If you love what you do, you have a natural passion.
Interesting, isn't it? Sure, the company has advanced, but I can still feel the love and happiness for the opportunity given to me at Taylor's that I saw when I was a 15-year-old just out of school.
Congratulations to them. They deserve the best, and let's hope there are other members of the family ready to take over when Melissa decides her time is up.
I just love success stories. So many of the stories touch on the same principles - love, happiness, humility, excitement and, of course, passion. Like all successful people, they put their clients first and foremost and put their shoulder to the task, deserving the rewards that come their way.
Success is there for all of us, and we have to be prepared to roll up our sleeves, put a smile on our face, put some love in our hearts and be other people-focused.
I love that famous saying, "If it is meant to be, it is up to me."
Despite all the garbage bags full and several trips to the different women’s shelters, there is still decluttering needing attention, so I will close for this week as I wish you all a happy and safe week.
Take care and sending the blessings of peace, health and happiness.
Love Annette
