Hello Special People
As we commence the spring season, I love this message from Adele Basheer: It's time for fresh dreams to bloom. Trust in yourself, believe in yourself. Own the power that lives within you.
We trust that each of you has had an enjoyable week. It has been another busy one here, but yes, we enjoyed every minute. The church Spring Fair was a feature. It was a lovely day. Perhaps not as successful as previous years and it was a full on day. We were both very tired by the time we arrived home. When I say the day was not as successful, I meant monetary concerns. Certainly, the work by the small band of us had the place looking a picture, but we just did not attract enough people to have a sellout. The thinking caps are already on for what we can do better next year. I am thankful it is over, and the trips to the church a few times a week to keep plants alive are over. One less chore.
John and I took in the movie Winx on Thursday. John had received a voucher for Father's Day, so when he heard the Winx movie was released, there was no stopping him. We had no trouble settling back in Gold Class with a Wine and Beer accompanied by a beautiful cheese platter to take in the story of this marvelous horse. Certainly, inspiring but also challenging for so many who had the task of looking after her. Thirty-three wins in a row is a story of its own. I would have to say outstanding. The biggest challenge for the owners came after Winx retired. Her first foal was still born, and Winx herself got colic after giving birth. She had two major operations, but as she was racing, her courage and tenacity saw her survive and go on to give birth the following year to a yearling who sold for $10 million. Her vets were amazed she survived the two operations, admitting most horses never survived the trauma.
With the hot weather deciding to persist, I am still building on my new summer wardrobe. Maybe it was a good idea to put things into storage. I have enjoyed a few visits to one of the stores on the southside. Purchase, try on, return, purchase something different, finding the right pieces does take a lot of work. John finds that difficult to understand.
Our grandson Will phoned on Sunday night and invited us out for breakfast on Monday morning. He had plenty of news for us. He has been invited to speak at the Sydney International Mining and Resources Conference from October 29 to October 31. Apart from speaking, he and his friend Charlie will chair workshops during the three-day program. The topic for the seminar is "Collaborating on Friends in Mining, Investment and Innovation towards a Sustainable Future”. It is one of the biggest mining conferences in the world and will certainly attract the big names of the mining industry. He also returns to Sydney in October to catch up with JP Morgan. Just one day, he said to prepare the group for what his internship will involve when he goes down for 10 weeks starting in December. He is very excited, and we are so pleased he decided we should hear the news over breakfast.
We enjoyed a lovely catch-up and chat with our youngest grandson, who turned 12 on Sunday. He has certainly grown into an intelligent young boy. He kept the conversation going for a full 30 minutes. We loved hearing all his NZ news and his goals for the next few months, but likewise, he was just as interested in knowing updates on all our news. Our grandchildren have and continue to give us so much love and happiness. We are so blessed to be included in their daily lives.
As we commenced with Adele this week, let's close with her beautiful words – "It's love that heals and love that connects. It's love that forgives and love that forgets. It's love that lights the way.”
Thank you for your kind and thoughtful feedback as we share our week with you all and we send the blessings of peace, health and happiness from our home to each of your homes.
Love Annette x
