Hello Special People
Is it really Autumn? It has been so hot here in Brisbane. I have tried everything to keep cool but still spend a greater part of the day drenched in perspiration. To top it off, it is 'cruelty day' The gym – here today. I am preparing as I type this blog this morning. Thankfully there is always pleasure after the pain, and this afternoon we have our monthly massages to look forward to, which will help alleviate the soreness in the joints.
I loved seeing all the posts yesterday to Celebrate International Women’s Day. Were you able to spend it in a special way? While I spent a quiet day, I did enjoy my favourite exercise of the week at Aqua Yoga. The day did give me time to reflect on some of the amazing women who have and continue in my life. My beautiful Mum, who had the age of 20, married my Dad, who already had four children, added three of her own and set the most beautiful standards of love, strength, courage and willingness to put others first in her example to teach each of us children: Imelda Roche who was my mentor in the business: Florence Scovel Shinn whose book The Game of Life and How to play It became my daily reading: my sisters and personal friends who have walked the daily life of the ups and downs with me all were in my thoughts yesterday.
Most have taught me to reflect on the following quote from Saint Francis de Sales “Have patience with all things, but chiefly have patience with yourself. Do not lose courage in considering your own imperfections but instantly set about remedying them – every day being the task anew."
Mark and Amy will arrive tomorrow. While they will spend most of their time in Noosa, we will have time to catch up for lunch while they are here. Hard to have Mark move away from Noosa, where he just loves.
To flip the coin on International Women’s Day, you may have seen this on Facebook, but I thought I should highlight it as it relates to so many marriages. “We interrupt this marriage for the start of the footy season”. Who can relate to this? It certainly is what happens in this household. We only have one TV, so John watches the footy on his phone. He gets quite animated, and I know for sure he doesn't hear anything I say when he is enthralled in a game. A crazy house when the Broncos are playing. Such a well thought little saying and a good laugh for sure, but so true.
We had a day at the races last Saturday. Not sure if I am totally sold on the races. It was "Girls' Day Out", and unfortunately, so many of the young girls really had a day out. Fortunately, we were in the owners/members area as John had a horse running, and the atmosphere in this area was certainly more acceptable. Still, I think I can take or leave an afternoon at the races. Of course, it didn't help when our horse was beaten by a nose. As John said as we walked to the car, "So close and yet so far."
Well, we are off to the gym, and it is John's first time for real exercise in a while. He has been chosen as a participant in a six-week course where the new fourth-year students must assess him and formulate a program to suit him. He was assessed last week, and the real fun starts in an hour. It will be interesting to see what his student has come up with. Will keep you posted next week.
We thank you once again for your lovely feedback on our weekly blogs, and as always, we love hearing from each of you on your week, so as we close for today, "Be Gentle with yourself" and have a great week.
Sending the blessings of peace, health and happiness
Love Annette
