Hello Special People. Love our thought for today – Busy is a choice. Stress is a choice. Joy is a choice. Which are you choosing for today? Well, as we say goodbye to March and hello to Autumn, we welcome the sunshine today. We have just waved goodbye to our NZ family. It was super good to have had them over for a week. They are both looking great and have enjoyed their time in the sunshine. While we were all feeling very fragile on the trip to the airport, there was some consolation as the rain was tumbling down, and I am sure they were thinking they were already back in New Zealand. We were amazed at how quiet the International Airport was on their arrival and again this morning when they were leaving. So, it appears there are plenty of people travelling within Australia, but International travel is yet to return to normal.
While the family were both vaccinated, there were mandatory tests prior to leaving NZ, on arrival here in Australia, and 24 hours prior to their departure for NZ. Not sure of the requirements once they arrive in NZ. While the flight was full, as I mentioned, the airport here was certainly a different scene from how we remember the buzz and excitement of the arrivals and departures at the international airport.
Yes, for all our garden lovers, I haven't had much good news re my roses lately. Not sure they have loved the excessive wet weather. While I am getting plenty of growth, there are not many blooms. They are missing the beautiful sunshine. I am a little disappointed. John fertilizes them every fortnight, and they do respond, but I just feel I should be getting many more flowers. Not sure I did the right thing following advice that I needed to do a heavy prune in January, which I followed, and now I am thinking that may have been the wrong way to go. John does mention to me that I listen to too many experts.
As well as coping with the excessive rain Mother Nature seems to send all her little friends this way as we try to organic garden with our visitors, grubs, aphids, caterpillars, grasshoppers and possums visiting daily.
After a recent inspection of our Solar Panels with the experts, we mentioned our possum friends. We were alerted to the fact that they love to nest under the panels. Hence, further inspections revealed yes, they had decided to build a nest under our panels. We understood that they are capable of chewing through the cables, which then bring down the entire solar system, so we were extremely blessed to have been forewarned and now have all our Solar panels possum proofed. I am still not 100% sure we can take the covers off all the roses and hedges at night, but we will see how things work out in the next few months.
I think I mentioned a couple of weeks ago that we were thinking of becoming Lions members – yes, we went ahead. After several hours of trying to find our tickets on our phones and emails, a quick call to the club revealed – "Oh, you need the Lions app – that's where your tickets will be!" this social media is a continual learning curve. We are off to our first game this weekend and looking forward to our new seats. The Lions have started the season well, so it will be great to cheer them on. (It will also help John get over his Bronco's terrible performance last weekend. He certainly took a few days to get over that one)
While on the subject of sport I must tell you all our Aqua Yoga class on Friday in the outdoor saltwater pool is preparing us ready for winter, we have joined a second Aqua Yoga class in a Magnesium indoor pool. I love both classes. Our indoor class is accompanied by music ( 60’s), and I had quite a giggle on Saturday as I watched John going up and down the pool with his dumbbells and floating noodles with his shoulders swaying to the music. We are both thoroughly enjoying both classes, so Fridays and Saturdays have become real exercise days for us.
Thank you for all your lovely comments and feedback. We love hearing from you. We close for this week as we send our love and blessings for peace, health and happiness.
Cheers Annette
