Hello Special People
"Love is love" It's love that heals and love that connects. It's love that forgives and love that forgets. It's love that lights the way. Adele Basheer
We trust that each of you is enjoying this beautiful weather we are having. Sure, the nights have cooled off a little, but I would suggest the days have been close to perfect. John and I really love going for a walk along the river and also sitting out on the balcony listening to the many varieties of birds we have around us.
We have enjoyed a lovely week this week doing a little entertaining which we so love. A fun thing about one of our evenings was we realised we would not have enough chairs, so John had to ask permission from our Church Warden to lend back one of our chairs so we could all sit around the table. It appears our decluttering is starting to show signs.
Speaking of moving and decluttering, our refrigerator decided it did not like being moved from its old home and decided to stop on Sunday night. I must say we were expecting it. The old fridge had been making some unusual noises for about a week, so we did see it happening somewhere down the track. So, we were off to buy a new refrigerator. I did not realise the details that were required and how difficult it would be to find one that was the right size with the correct dimension for the recess. We needed height, width and depth and which way the door would open. Then it was, do you want a fridge freezer, and do you want the freezer on top or on the bottom? I find all this quite frustrating. Then, it came down to the brands. It was all smiles when the new fridge arrived – it fitted perfectly and looked like a picture. I must admit it was difficult to purchase a white fridge. We had to settle for a silver, and it does look great alongside the silver dishwasher and other chrome products in our kitchen.
I was surprised this week to receive a letter from the Main Roads reminding me it was time to have a medical for my license. So, it was off to the doctors with the Pink Form to have my assessment. Our GP is such a great guy, and the testing was quite fun. John was there and gave me a couple of giggles when I was doing the eyesight test. The doctor quickly put him in his place, explaining that I had done very well and could read two lines lower than was required. This test needs to be done every 13 months now.
With the Broncos out of the picture, John has now turned his full support behind the Lions. We did not get to any games this year apart from the day we sold the 50/50 raffle tickets for the charity "The Coffee Brigade". That match between Greater Western Sydney saw them come from behind to knock the Lions out of the top 4, so John was over-excited when the Lions pulled off what seemed to be the impossible and beat GWS on Saturday night. He was watching on his iPad, and at half-time, he was out making cups of tea and ready to come and watch a movie with me. However, he persevered, and I could not believe the excitement in the second half. Brisbane now sports banners from the light poles with the Lion's message "We Believe". It is such a strong message, and while I did not see any of the action on Saturday night, the story from the game was that they are strong believers to come from so far behind and now continue their journey and hopefully bring the much-deserved premiership home to Brisbane.
Today we received news that our destination down at Portside in our new unit has been extended yet again into Quarter 4. It is a tad disappointing, although we are extremely happy here in this beautiful unit. I am now wondering if we will be there by Christmas. The building itself looks complete, but there is obviously so much more internal work to complete. We are so blessed to have our unit here and not have to worry in this regard. It is still difficult to understand that they cannot give us a completion date and a day when we can go inside and have a look at what will be our next and final move.
My find of the week was the most gorgeous local florist. They have a farm in Tasmania and import their flowers fresh every Monday and Thursday. It was florist heaven. Have included a couple of photos of the divine flowers that have been in the house for this week. So fresh and the fragrance through the unit is so beautiful. Our indoor plants are loving their holiday here as we face the south, and the unit is almost glass all around, so there is plenty of light and fresh air, which they love. Our darling violas, with their happy faces, continue to bloom for us to enjoy.
When we sold our home and went to see our financial planner, he asked me how much money we would need to live on each year – my response was that I would love enough money to be able to have fresh flowers in the house every week. This is my happy place.
Thought we would close this week with this rather cute message – We forget that waking up each day is the first thing we should be grateful for. Puts it all into perspective for us.
We trust that each of your weeks have been full and happy as we send our love and blessings from our home to your homes.
Love Annette x
