Hello Special People
Let’s welcome October with this beautiful message from Louise Hay:- The more I love myself, the less stress I have, so this month, I focus on how truly remarkable I am. I know it is now time to stop apologizing for anything and everything, as I am an empowered person who comes from a positive, loving place. I relax and let go of whatever is no longer serving me, allowing harmony and joy to envelop me instead, I especially embrace my inner child, keeping its sense of wonder alive within me. I do kind things for myself and remember to have lots of fun!
I trust, like me, you are all looking forward to our long weekend. We all love time out, and I hope you all make the most of the special time.
This week has been very special for me. We had our 58th Wedding Anniversary on Tuesday and my birthday on Friday. Not [putting a number on the birthday. So, it has been a week of celebrations. Anniversary Day started with breakfast at our little coffee shop, and lunch was at a gorgeous restaurant at Newstead called Allonda. It was our first time to Allonda, and it proved a winner—lovely setting, beautiful and attentive staff and the food simply delicious. We arrived home mid-afternoon, and John opened the champagne, so here I was, sipping on bubbles while I tuned into our latest series, "The Resident". It was a great day. In fact, I am working on having every day like this.
My sisters and husbands came down from Toowoomba for lunch on my birthday. We enjoyed a quick morning tea at our unit, and then we all climbed aboard a City Cat to head down to Portside to check out how our new unit was looking. It looks a picture from the water, but we still cannot find out when the interior will be completed to make our final move into our new home. Putting the unit stress aside it was a lovely couple of hours with the girls and their husbands. I know they enjoyed seeing Brisbane from the river. It is so relaxing on the City Cat.
It was off to lunch at our favourite Vietnamese restaurant after the river tour. Yummy food, lots of laughs, and then the Toowoomba folk headed home. Night celebrations at a little Japanese Restaurant at Milton. Once again, we had great food and an enjoyable evening.
Sounds like lots of eating!!! However, we managed to fit in our usual Aqua Yoga sessions and, of course, our QUT Gym sessions. It was our last week with the current group of students. Chris has been so kind to me. So gentle in leading me into the program, and when I have a student like him, I hate seeing them depart. That's the drill: they move on, and then we have a new student next Monday. Guess I must see it as a positive and looking forward to meeting someone new next week.
John has been over the moon with the Lions winning the premiership. He was glued to the TV, and even when I asked who was winning – there was no reply. I did watch the prelims with Katie Perry doing her gig. It was entertaining, but I find the $5 million she received for 5 songs a little over the top.
While John was delighted for the Lions, he is having trouble coming to terms with what is happening at his Broncos. He is of the opinion that Kevin Walters should have been given more time and then when they hired a New South Welshman, he was all over it. Not sure if he will renew his membership. Crazy times at the Broncos!!
We loved how the Lions had banners up on the light poles in the week leading up to their Grand Final. It was simple but effective: "We believe," and we believe they did. Belief goes a long way in life.
Thought it appropriate to close with Louise’s birthday message for me:-“ My life is a party to be experienced and shared with everyone I know.”
We have certainly been blessed with a wonderful lifestyle, family, and friendships over the last 58 years. Thank you to so many of you for your kind and thoughtful messages both for our anniversary and my birthday.
My last student at QUT, when asking my background, posed this question – "So what decade have you enjoyed the most?" It was very thought-provoking as I pondered his question and reflected. Life throws us all curve balls, and then the rainbows always follow. Appreciation, gratitude, kindness, forgiveness and love are all ingredients for peace and happiness.
We send all the above to each of you for the happiest week.
Love Annette
