Hello Special People
How lovely to wake up this morning to this beautiful rain we are having here in Brisbane. Just nice steady rain. My first thoughts were about the gardens. How I loved seeing the rain fall on our garden. While I no longer have to worry about a garden, I do have many pots I am tenderly loving. John calls it the jungle. Very unkind, I am sure you agree. I must admit there are quite a few, and I do spend a good part of my day attending my beautiful pots. I love the garden and enjoy being able to potter even though it is only in the pots.
Actually, the unit looks like a picture at the moment. So many gorgeous flowers arrived with my birthday and anniversary celebrations. Added to these are my weekly contributions. I have mentioned the wonderful florist not far from our unit. They receive their flowers directly from their farm in Tasmania, and supplies arrive every Monday and Thursday. I have been blessed with the happiest week of celebration. The celebrations extended for most of the weekend and during the week. Different members of the family had engagements, so we decided we could party whenever they were available, and that's how it went.
Friday my sisters and husbands came for my birthday, and we treated them to a City Cat ride so we could see our new unit from the river. What an experience that turned out to be. Trying to purchase single paper tickets for a once-only ride proved to be a real exercise. The attached image explains how we felt only we had no assistant on the platform at the Milton railway station as we tried to purchase their fares. Yep, things are moving and moving ahead so quickly in this department, and while we struggle, we need to try to keep up with the pace.
We loved our lunch on Saturday and Sunday and then, of course, a group together for the all-important footy final. I was lucky Monday was a holiday, and I did not have to front up for the weekly exercise class at QUT. So, this week I have been totally reliant on Aqua Yoga to flex a few muscles. We are looking forward to our monthly massage this afternoon.
However, on the exercise front I have resurrected my Zen exercise machine. I have not used it for years. In fact, I had forgotten all about it until it raised its head in the recent moves. We purchased the machine many years ago when attending the health retreat at Camp Eden. Knowing we may have extra time on our hands at the unit here, we decided to bring it with us, so we finally pulled it out this week. It is so good for the entire body, and I intend to make it part of my daily exercise routine.
Our weekend ahead looks busy. We are off to a new restaurant in the city called Wolf. We are looking forward to this and, of course, will have a report for you all next week. Sunday, we are off to the favourite restaurant at Forest Hill to celebrate my younger sister Lesley's birthday and then rush home to join our fellow volunteers from the Coffee Brigade at Captain Burke Park for the turning on of the lights on the Storey Bridge for the commencement of Homeless Week. We are thrilled to see the Coffee Brigade being recognized. The Bridge will be in Blue and White their colours. It will be another busy and exciting weekend.
The celebrations for my birthday, especially from our children and all the grandchildren was such a blessing. Each one of the family shared a meal, contacted, phoned or visited me. Happy tears as I chatted to the NZ children.
Thought the attached quote “If you want your children to turn out well, spend twice as much time with them and half as much money on them” was so pertinent.
I spoke with my sisters in Toowoomba this morning, and while we are enjoying this steady rain here in Brisbane, they have had very little in Toowoomba. As I type the blog, the sky looks like it wants to clear, but the rain is continuing. We certainly count our blessings knowing we are tucked up in a warm, comfy unit with beautiful food and a cosy bed. Yes, it is those little things – As Louise reminds us today, "I am grateful for everything and everyone in my Life." This sums up a very special week for us, and we give thanks and appreciation.
Sending love and thanks to each of you for your lovely messages throughout the week and wishing you the blessings of peace, health and happiness for the coming week.
Love Annette x
