Hello Everyone
We send love and blessings and a Happy Mother’s Day to all the Mums out there.
With some restrictions lifted some of you will be able to get together. That is very special. Not sure how I will fare? Hoping the 50km limit will be lifted so we can head off to Toowoomba, but at this stage, I feel I will be seeing Mum through social media. However, we still have a few days to go, so I am keeping my fingers crossed.
The grandchildren are welcoming the return to school on Monday. They haven't really enjoyed homeschooling but have participated in all that their schools have organised. Will has been leading Assembly via Zoom while Mathilda looked quite cute taking her pet Sizzle to the class via the same media.
No doubt I am sure so many of you have been doing similar things. I know many of you have been lighting up people’s lives with Virtual Zoom Parties. People have been so thankful. Partly for the wonderful entertainment you are providing, but also the excellent information you are passing on. You are virtually walking into their homes and making the difference. This is putting a smile on their faces and relieving any stress or tension that may have built up in these different times. Well done to you all. You deserve the accolades and sales you have achieved. We have all learnt from this isolation along with a new way to do business. It is a win, win situation for everyone.
“Mindfulness – The change in our lives begins with a change in our minds. Destiny grows where your focus flows.” Adele Basheer
Last week I wrote about inspiration and how I thought Jacinda Ardern was a wonderful example.
Reflecting back, how many of us have been inspired by our Mothers? I certainly have. Many of you have met my Mum at Nutrimetics functions, but you are probably not aware of her background. Mum is 94 years old. She commenced her working life as a nurse at the Mater Hospital in Brisbane during the war years. She returned to Toowoomba and went to work at the Toowoomba Foundry, helping to make bits and pieces for the war effort.
She met our Dad at the Foundry. They raised seven children through the rough years after the war. It wasn't easy times, but I clearly remember how Mum played a significant role in keeping us fed and clothed and holding it all together. It taught me so much. Work ethic was a strong part of it and has held John, and I full of respect for her as we built our business. In fact, I have to brag a little and say she has been an amazing lady who has lived an amazing life. She has taught so many of us so much.
We love you so much – Mum. I salute you every day but especially on Mother’s Day.
As I type the blog, John has just come in and popped a note in front of me saying "We can go to Toowoomba on Sunday."
What awesome news. We haven't been able to see Mum since February even though we chat daily. My sister, who she lives with, was telling me this morning that Mum has become quite teary not being able to have contact. While Mum has seen so many changes and inventions in her lifetime, she told me she has never experienced anything like what we are going through at the moment. She said all I want is to be able to have my family around me again. Sunday will be a special day of celebrations.
It would be remiss of me not to conclude this blog with the following;-
“It’s not about how much you do, but how much love you put into what you do that counts.” Mother Teresa
Mother Teresa was an inspiration to countless millions for her lifelong devotion to the neediest and most vulnerable of the world. The selflessness and sacrifice with which she lived her own life made her an international symbol of charitable work. The love and compassion she showed the destitute of all faiths won her a Nobel Peace Prize in 1979, which she donated entirely to the poor.
Mother Teresa found her inspiration in Catholic teachings but won widespread affection and admiration in her adopted home of Calcutta, India by respecting local customs and beliefs and always placing our common humanity above religious divisions. By 2013, the charitable organisation she had set up, the Missionaries of Charity, had spread to 700 missions in 130 countries, providing soup kitchens centres for family assistance, orphanages, schools, hospitals and homes for people with diseases such as leprosy, Aids and tuberculosis.
In 2016, Mother Teresa was canonised by the Roman Catholic Church as Saint Teresa.
I wish each of you and your loved ones and family, laughter, health and happiness.
Take care and say safe
Annette
