Hello Everyone
Like most of you, I am always on the lookout for inspirational stories about inspirational people.
Rather than sound political, I am sure you will agree the New Zealand Prime Minister, Jacinda Ardern is just one inspirational lady.
I was delighted to hear today that she had received a phone call from the Queen this week. How many Prime Ministers have had a call from the Queen? I would think not too many. Would this be just a normal phone call? I don' think so. This is a phone call from one inspiring female leader to another. It happened on Tuesday, and nobody was more surprised than our inspiration of the day Jacinda Ardern.
Just reflect on this lady and her achievements – at the moment she is dealing with COVID19 and in fact, saving many New Zealand lives with her tough decisions. "Lock the country down," she said. What a result she has received.
“A true leader has the confidence to stand alone, the courage to make tough decisions, and the compassion to listen to the needs of others. He does not set out to be a leader, but becomes one by the equality of his actions and the integrity of his intent.” Douglas MacArthur.
When you consider this is her first term in office and what she has had to contend with you, have to think this is some inspirational leader. A terrorist attack in Christchurch, a volcano eruption in the North Island, a pandemic that threatened the whole country and of course she is dealing with the climate change issues etc. All in an election year. Plus from a personal perspective as Prime Minister, she became a Mum. "What a Lady." She is a lady whose leadership deserves a phone call from the Queen.
“One of the tests of leadership is the ability to recognize a problem before it becomes an emergency.” Arnold Glasow
There are not too many of us or Prime Ministers who have had the same privilege.
Jacinda deserves every accolade she receives. She has earnt the recognition. How modest was she about the phone call. “She just wanted to catch up," she said. However, realistically the Queen was phoning to congratulate her on her inspirational leadership as well as for the way she handled the virus but for her continued all-round strength and courage.
"You gain strength, courage and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You must do the thing you think you cannot do." Eleanor Roosevelt
As we all know, the Queen has been there herself. Think about when she came to the throne. Not long after World War 2. The Queen was dealing with politician's way beyond her years of experience. Still, she handled it and with help from the right people made the required inspiring decisions.
"Wise leaders generally have wise counsellors because it takes a wise person themselves to distinguish them." Diogenes of Sinope.
Inspiration plays an important role in all our lives. We all look towards people who inspire us. Even at school, our children are looking for teachers who inspire them. They are usually the subjects they perform well in. We continue to shine the light on inspirational leaders. They handle the tough issues, and they come up with the answers.
Inspiration has been so important to John and I in our Nutrimetics journey. We are so grateful to the people who have led the way and set the path for our journey to success. I can so relate to Jacinda Ardern. She tackled every challenge. She didn't take a backward step, and she has been rewarded in glowing terms. She deserves every "Congratulations."
Inspiration is part of life and part of our business.
“All of the great leaders have had one characteristic in common; it was the willingness to confront unequivocally the major anxiety of their people in their time. This and not much else, is the essence of leadership." John Kenneth Galbraith.
Until next week, go well everybody, take care and stay safe
Blessings Annette
