Hello Special People
September Blessings as we welcome Spring:- I truly believe that we are here to bless and prosper each other. All the love and kindness I have bestowed on others this year is now coming back to me. I joyfully receive all this good with open arms. Louise Hay
With Spring, I am back to rose season. My first buds are ready to bloom. I can't wait to get my first big bowl. The roses are still a lot of work. John is continually fertilizing and has to cover them every night to protect them from the pesty possums. We have a machine that sends out flashing laser lights, and I think it does help, but we cover as well to ensure the protection. One night uncovered could prove disastrous. So, the motto is "Take no chances” I went to pick the parsley this morning, and the possums have found this as well, so will have to get John to put the pot of parsley under cover tonight.
We enjoyed a busy night with the grandchildren last night. We thought we were having them for dinner, and we were, but we had to combine it with school assignments and Touch Football. One had early games, so could not eat until 9 p.m., and one had a late match, so needed to eat at 6 p.m., and Mathilda was in a rush with her assignment due on Friday. So, a busy and mixed night, but great that we could help out and have their company. The boys are in different touch teams, and both won their semi-finals and now meet each other in the Grand Final next Wednesday night. Both love to win so it will be an interesting match.
As well as keeping ourselves physically fit we have realized the importance of mental fitness, so we have been having regular games of Rummy O. We were introduced to the game while we were in Sydney at Easter with my sisters and have become very fond of the game. We endeavour to have a couple of games each day to keep our thinking strong. I am afraid I am a bit like our grandsons. I do love to win.
I promised to keep you posted on the house construction at the back of us, so I have attached a photo of it almost completed. It has been 3 years in building from when they demolished the original brick home on the block. We have been amazed at the precision of the heavy equipment that has been used over this period. It is a beautiful home, and I guess it should be with a price tag of $12 million. We have had lovely contact with our new neighbours, who have ensured us that a barbeque is looming with drinks on them for all the early mornings, dust and noise over these last three years.
Well, finally, John has given up on his Broncos. He is so loyal, but the past two weeks have been – can I say – testing for even the most loyal supporter. I have even learnt that dropping from 4th to 8th is OK but to drop to 9th is, 'guys, you are no longer in the competition." Let’s hope the Lions can breathe some life into the city tonight. A tough task but there is still Hope with the Lions.
I can hear the Rummy O pieces being prepared on the table, so it looks like there is a game on the agenda.
Wishing all the Dads, Fathers and grandfathers the happiest day of celebrations on Sunday. We will join our Brisbane family for brunch on Sunday, so we will pop some photos next week.
Let’s close today with the special message from Adele Basheer for September – New Possibilities – “Every dream carries the possibility that something bigger than you ever imagined is going to unfold.”
Cheers Annette
