Hello Everyone
I am always amazed how quickly time flies – next week will be February.
How many of you stayed awake to watch Joe Biden become President?
John and I did. We shared making cups of tea to keep us awake, and we are so glad we did.
Leaving politics aside, it was so well done and simply showed how dedicated this guy is to the job at hand. There was a wonderful feeling of sharing and love. “ I will do my best for you “– other people-focused. That was the message that came out over and over, and the American people must be so relieved to have someone at the helm who is working for them and not himself. Well done, Joe Biden.
If you have not seen and heard the Poet Laurette, Amanda Gorman, National Youth Poet Laureate and the youngest inaugural poet in U.S.History, you would enjoy finding a copy of her performance. Amanda Gorman was sensational. Her poem "The Hill We Climb:" was perfect for this occasion and bought the message of unity and togetherness to the fore. Her opening words "When the day comes, we ask ourselves where we can find the light in this never-ending shade." Always look for the light. It is never far away. A five-minute poem and I know you can find it on social media. I have it printed to reread. Amanda makes no secret of the fact she intends to run for President herself in the future. What an inspirational young lady and she is definitely a future leader.
We didn’t stay up for the Inauguration Concert, but John taped it, and we loved watching it the following night. Hosted by Tom Hanks, it was held on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial. Tom was so brave out there in the freezing cold. The show took us across America with each performer in a different city. It was so inclusive. In between performances we heard from the people – a nurse from a Covid ward, a delivery driver, children and others – showing this is about you people of this mighty country. This was followed by the brilliant display of the Fireworks. To see the Bidens, Joe and Jill and Kamala Harris and her husband standing on the Whitehouse's balconies holding hands and saluting the Nation for such a wonderful performance climaxing a wonderful day was indeed heart-warming.
I am glad we made the effort. It will be a long-lasting memory.
Effort is an interesting word. Many, many times in our lives, we are asked to extend ourselves. When we do, we see the rewards at the end. We put in that extra effort, and we reap the rewards. It happens in our day to day lives, and it happens in business. I have seen it so many times in Nutrimetics. Those who put in the effort reap the rewards. We see it now in our grandchildren. When they put in the extra effort in their sport – they make the “A” team, they put in the effort to their studies, and they are rewarded with higher marks.
You may love to recall the times when you put in the extra effort and the rewards that followed. I am sure we can all testify from experience that effort always justly rewards.
And to finish this week with Amanda’s final verse of her poem- “We will rise from the sun-baked south. We will rebuild, reconcile and recover. And every known nook of our nation and every corner called our country; our people diverse and beautiful will emerge, battered and beautiful. When day comes, we step out of the shade, aflame and unafraid, the new dawn blooms as we free it. For there is always light, if only we’re brave enough to see it. If only we’re brave enough to be it.”
Thanks for all your kind comments we really appreciate them.
So until next week, take care, stay safe, and keep well and happy.
Cheers Annette
