Hello Special People
"Time is the coin of your life. It is the only coin you have, and only you can determine how it will be spent. Be careful lest you let other people spend it for you". Carl Sandburg
Welcome to a glorious winter's day here in Brisbane. Truly magnificent and I hope wherever you are, you are also enjoying this gorgeous seasonal weather.
I would love to talk with you this week about “Time wasting.” I have become addicted to a couple of things, and I now realize how both are consuming my time. John laughs at me with rude comments like, "You are at it again, Annette." Not very kind, but it is time for me to resurrect my valuable time.
Number one time waster is the house being built next door. I become so intrigued with the comings and goings each day. I find myself predicting what they will do next. John, laughing, would agree with me and say, "That's a great idea." Thankfully the house is only a week away from finishing, so that should cure number one time waster. I intend to send you all some photos of the house once all the scaffolding etc, has been removed. It is a magnificent house, and we did take photos of the demolition when it commenced some three years ago and to see the transformation of the block is outstanding.
I am particularly loving watching the number of trucks and equipment being used to do the landscaping. I think I counted 12 men working there the other day. The lawn has been laid, and the more established trees were planted some time ago, and now all the smaller plants are being planted.
The tennis court which had me concerned has now been rendered and the carpet and line marking is down, so we only have the outside fencing to be erected. We have lovely bay windows in our kitchen and large windows in both the office and dining room, so my concern was how high the fencing was going to be. I was able to strike a lovely friendly conversation with the workmen, who calmed my fears, letting me know that the fencing was to be no higher than our existing hedge. We have beautiful open views out of all our windows, so I was concerned that we were going to be looking at a tennis court fence – but all good.
My second addiction is the American news. I love to follow the news to see what is happening. I do find it difficult to understand the different viewpoints of the folk over there, so I am not sure how I am going to cure this situation. Once again, John is of little help. His comments, "I don't think you can do anything about what is happening in America." Maybe not, but we do have to support and protect democracy for our American friends. My motto – The time you Enjoy wasting is not wasted time.
I spoke about happiness last week, and this is a happy week for John. The footy teams all won; his horse won at Eagle Farm at 10/1. I asked him for a loan, but it hasn't been forthcoming. However, it is back to square one this week with both the Lions and the Broncos having blockbusters which they need to win. John thinks he is back working at the Toowoomba Chronicle with all his sports updates. I just wonder if I should tell him he is "Time Wasting".
As we discuss time - Let's reflect on this quote for this week – "Time is love, above all else. It is the most precious commodity in the world and should be lavished on those we care most about." Sydney J Harris.
Sending the blessing of a peaceful and happy week spending time doing the things you love most.
Love, Annette.
