Hello Everyone
Today I would love to highlight the stories of some amazing women. They came to the fore on International Women's Day. Remember, the motto for this year's day was "Choose to Challenge". These three ladies did just that. They challenged themselves. They weren't going to let a Pandemic stand in their way.
All three are restaurant owners. I think you all know how this industry was affected in our various lockdown periods. These ladies produced the courage, resilience and kindness needed to keep their businesses alive. I would love to introduce Brigette Hafner. Brigitte launched her restaurant in January 2020, a country-style concept in Red Hill, country Victoria. I think we are all aware of the story of the lockdown in Victoria. They went into total lockdown two months after Brigitte opened her business. Brigitte was determined to keep her team in place and keep the business alive. She offered takeout and delivery to her customers. When supplies started to run short, she turned a nearby paddock into a dynamic, self-sustaining vegetable garden flanked by hothouses. What amazing foresight from Brigitte. This is why her business and her staff thrived and survived the pandemic lockdowns.
Ragini Dey and Alex Hely-Hutchinson did similar things with Ragini extending her time to write a new Cook Book.
Look, I know there are many stories like this. In fact, one of my neighbours was just exalting how his friends opened and kept a café alive during Brisbane's lockdown. I have also spoken highly of the girls in our team and how they adjusted and received the rewards they deserved.
On a personal basis, when I saw the caption "Choose to Challenge", I reflected on our Darling Mum at 95 and even with a broken elbow and having to learn to feed herself and manage her balance with her favoured arm in a cast and yet she continued to "Choose to Challenge" and rise above her challenges.
So I guess my point today is never being afraid to challenge yourself. You will also be rewarded.
Loyalty and friendship also play a major role. When we give our clients what they deserve, we will have strong loyalty and build up an undefined number of friends and customers.
Our fun weekend at the coast last weekend reflects the value and importance of friendship. We were guests of our special friends who live on the Sunshine Coast. We enjoy these visits at least two to three times each year. They have an amazing unit right opposite the beach. I first met Jan in 1965 when we worked at the bank in Toowoomba, and we have been friends for 56 years.
Saturday, we took a drive up to Maleny and found this fun place to enjoy lunch along with the music. We spend the weekend enjoying yummy food, a few wines, lots of laughs, and the ladies sharpen their skills, challenging the men in cards. The ladies are most competitive, and we find the men – well - challenge the rules of the game in some instances. I loved that the ladies continued to fly the flag as the winners for the weekend. We have shared many happy times together over the years, and this last weekend was just as much fun.
Thought to close today, I would select an Intuition Card for courage and strength from Adele Basheer, which is – "discover" – Sometimes, getting lost is the best way to figure out where you're meant to be.
Until next week take care, stay safe and happy and have a fun week.
Cheers Annette
