Hello everyone, and welcome to our last week of March.
How great to see the sunshine and what a difference a day makes!
Walking through the park close to home, I could not help thinking back and reflecting on how we used to walk to school in the rain as we have had in the past week. I guess I was on a trip down memory lane. Fond memories as I admired the blue skies and the wonderful sunshine. "What a difference a day makes." While we enjoyed the rain, many have suffered. I know we all feel for them. But we know they, too, would be appreciating the beautiful sunshine and blue skies as they go about restoring their properties and lives. What a difference 24 little hours can make. We went to bed listening to the rain, tumbling down and woke to brilliant sunshine.
So needing exercise, we were off on our walking circuit. As I said, we were really enjoying being out and about. But then we struck reality. A causeway on our track was a reminder of how long it can take for the creeks and rivers to clear the excess water. It was turnaround time, and we found a different path. It was a NO GO zone. The water was deep and flowing rapidly.
Twenty-four hours later, we tried the same walking track. The depth had subsided, but the creek was still lapping the Causeway and running quite rapidly. We looked around and noticed how high the creek had risen and how fortunate we were that it had not entered flood proportions. But as you can see from the photos, it did go above its banks.
I must say our own lawn is going to take some time to dry out. The water just squelches through your toes. It is so saturated. Sure, everything looks beautiful and green and here, where we needed a good downpour, we are appreciating how amazing everything looks. Apart from the creek, the park where we walk looks magnificent. I have never seen so many mushrooms and toadstools. The grassland is covered with them. How long since we have seen this happen?
Let's talk about what a difference a day makes. In just 24 hours, we see a change from rain to sunshine and isn't this somewhat like life. I think we can all reflect on situations where 24 hours has changed so much. What a great idea to keep doing just that – looking forward – admiring the blue skies and sunshine and the beautiful stars at night. We did miss those as well this past week.
I think I mentioned last week how John had a new toy – a rain gauge. Each morning, he was donning the wet weather gear and racing out to see how much rain had fallen in the previous 24 hours. Wow, 100ml today, Annette. Or only 50 ml last night, he would say. Lovely to see him so excited with his new play toy.
What a difference a day makes – 24 little hours and how we can all make a difference to each other and, in fact, the world around us.
Yes – what a difference a day makes – and that difference is YOU.
Enjoy these beautiful blue skies and this gorgeous autumn weather until next week take care of each other.
Cheers Annette
