Hello Everyone
Well, it has been another WOW week in the French household. Yes, the roses have started to bloom. Thank you warm weather, and I hope Spring brings a lot more. The wild westerlies of the last couple of days had John running around with stakes to stop the bushes bending over, but it was good exercise for him.
We commenced the week with a visit to a nursery at Brookfield, and my goodness did it open my eyes. The fragrance and colour with so many spring blooms opening their heads were so gorgeous. John was looking for a rose called Firefighter, but alas it was not on their supplier list. But guess what, I found a couple I liked so we have two new ones, and John is still chasing his Firefighter. Maybe some of you can help him.
Those of you who have or have had children at school would be delighted with the reference HA on a report card with the meaning (High achievement). But with our children all grown up HA in this household is simply Healthy Annette (or so John says)!!!
Yes, I do make my own yoghurt. The recipe - 4 x cans of Coconut cream plus 1 teaspoon of raw sugar plus 1 probiotic capsule. It takes a full 24 hours, but it is well worth the effort. Each night I love the yoghurt with my homemade Rosewater Jelly, blueberries and topped with passionfruit. John is still shying away from my homemade yoghurt but loves his natural organic yoghurt and the fruit.
Today has been busy. I visited a friend – my dressmaker – who is going through a tough time with breast cancer. Unfortunately, she lost her Mum several years ago. She contacted me through the week to say she wanted to take me for morning tea as it is 12 months on Saturday since I went with her to the diagnostic clinic where they found cancer. She tells me there is not a day go by that she doesn't give thanks for that visit. She has been an absolute inspiration of courage and strength over these last 12 months as she has undergone the extensive treatment involved. I so admire these amazing, courageous women. We had such a lovely morning, and my friend was able to go home with two beautiful new pieces to add to her wardrobe. It is not a ladies morning out without adding that touch of shopping. There were a few tears here and there but by the time I took her home she was smiling and so happy with her purchases. My heart overflowed with happiness seeing her so happy and healthy again.
John had lunch ready on my return, and then it was a quick change into working clothes as there was repotting and gardening to be done. A new daisy pot is now at the front door to add some colour along with a flourishing pot of lilies. While he was in the kitchen, John also baked a delicious lentil pie ready for our visitors for lunch tomorrow. He is proving quite a chef in the kitchen becoming more adventurous with his recipes.
Since we had an early start this morning, our exercise routine was put on hold this morning. So it happened late afternoon. I was so intent on making sure we didn't miss out. John actually thought Happy Hour was a better option but guess what we did - yep the exercise routine and there was no Happy Hour.
So with the shutters and shades being drawn, I am off to the office to catch up with all of you. It is amazing how the flexibility of our business works in our favour. As I have just mentioned, we love to do the things we enjoy each day and still be able to fit them in with our business. So there still has to be some compensation to flexibility, and it is called work. We have a busy work programme Monday to Wednesday with meetings and Zoom calls, but as I have shown, there is room for both, and I am sure many of you are enjoying the same lifestyle.
Maybe after missing Happy Hour, we may be able to have a glass of wine before we retire. (He is naughty) I have news for him, and it is called a cup of warm turmeric and honey on my favourite Mylk made from brown rice, cashew nuts, coconut cream and Himalayan salt. So much better for him than his glass of wine!!!! However, there is office work to attend before that happens.
We have been blessed with a happy week, and we trust that each of you have also enjoyed a happy week so until next week we send love from our home to your homes.
Annette
