Hello Special People
“When life seems hard, the courageous do not lie down and accept defeat: instead, they are all the more determined to struggle for a better future.” Queen Elizabeth 2nd
Well, we commence this week on a rather sad note with the passing of our Queen. What an amazing lady. Reflecting on how young she was when she took on the challenge of looking after the Commonwealth. What an outstanding job she did. I can remember her coming out to Australia in 1954. Our schools took us to the Athletic Oval in Toowoomba, and she came and drove around the Oval as we all cheered and waved our flags. Fond memories, and I thank this beautiful lady for her reign as our Queen.
Our Queen was born the same year as my Mum. She retained her health one year longer than Mum. I am sure I have told Mum's story, but I am proud of her life. Marrying an older person and accepting the responsibility of being a Mum to four older children and then having three of her own was indeed a real challenge. Mum was proud of her efforts. We all had a happy and great childhood. We lived in a home full of love, where we were taught the true values of life. Love, kindness, discipline, integrity, trust, commitment, determination etc., which have stood each of the seven children in good stead.
I have certainly inherited her absolute love of the garden and have enclosed one of her favourite roses, "Blue Moon", which I picked this week. The fragrance is so delicate and divine.
Though somewhat different in circumstance, I can relate her efforts to Queen Elizabeth. Both are outstanding ladies. We have fond memories of both incredible ladies.
I will have our social media Angel pop up some of the highlights of our treasured years with Mum, especially with the children showing her love and involvement with her family.

Happy hour with John was always one her favourites
It will be all eyes glued to the TV watching the funeral service later this week as we each show our respect for a life so well lived and shared.
"Let us not take ourselves too seriously; none of us has a monopoly on wisdom."
On a brighter note, we are off to the movies this afternoon. We have not been to a movie theatre since 2020, and prior to that, we loved going to the theatre. We have relied on Netflix, so we have not really missed out on movies. We are off to see Julia Roberts and George Clooney, Tickets to Paradise, which I understand was filmed here in Australia. I will let you know our verdict next week.
Of course, I would be remiss to finish our weekly blog without some reference to Mr John's sport. He is excited this week with the Lions still in the hunt for the AFL Flag. He admits they have a tough journey, but as always, he is not giving up. It will be a lively time on Friday night in our household. He gets very animated watching the games and certainly helps every point they score.
I thought this inspirational quote was so fitting of these two amazing ladies to close today – "I know of no single formula for success. But over the years, I have observed that some attributes of leadership are universal and are often about finding ways of encouraging people to combine their efforts, their talents, their insights, their enthusiasm and their inspiration to work together.”
Sending blessings of peace, love and health.
