Hello Special People
“Who you are….will attract people like you to you". David Meltzer
It would be remiss of us not to ask – how are you enjoying the sudden drop in temperatures? I know many of you are not in Brisbane and in places where it has been a lot cooler than we are having. I love the cooler weather, but the sudden drop here even caught me by surprise. John is struggling as he does not enjoy the cooler weather. He found himself all rugged up over the weekend, glued to the TV for football.
On the Magic Round, as they call it, I must congratulate the Rugby League for this wonderful concept of having all the games played at one venue. I was reading how it injected 40 million dollars into the Brisbane economy. The city really came alive. Wherever you went, there were supporters in their team colors, and our grandchildren tell us it is simply a lot of fun to be at the games and hear the banter between the supporters. Without saying, he was overjoyed when the Broncos snuck home by a point—well done to all the organizers on such a successful weekend. I am amazed at the precision of the organization after the games, with 50,000 in attendance successfully dispersed.
Today was our monthly duty at the Coffee Brigade to make sandwiches for our friends on the street, and we again had record numbers to make. With this cold snap in Brisbane and winter following close behind, we certainly count our blessings for our beautiful, warm homes while saying our prayers for those less fortunate.
At this time of the year, we really love the heated pool at Aqua Yoga. The venues at Newmarket and Ascot are so beautiful. They really make it so pleasant for us to enjoy our exercise, particularly now that the cooler months are with us. We both enjoy our three sessions a week. It is a little cool when you climb out, but a short run to the warm shower fixes everything. We have made some special friends through our Aqua Yoga classes, and yep, I even enjoyed the QUT exercises this morning with my new lass. She is so delightful that it is difficult not to enjoy the session. (Maybe it is because she keeps asking if I would prefer to do three sets or just two of the exercises!!!!)
John is unloading the Rummy game now. We try to play each day to keep our minds alert. He is trailing a few games at the moment, and his competitive nature is not coping too well. So, he is always up for a game, hoping the tide will turn in his favor. I'm not sure who is the most competitive; neither of us likes to lose.
This week's smile – The Husband Store
A store that sells new husbands has opened in Manchester , just off Deansgate where a woman may go to choose a husband. Among the instructions at the entrance is a description of how the store operates:
You may visit this store ONLY ONCE!
There are six floors and the value of the products increase as the shopper ascends the flights. The shopper may choose any item from a particular floor, or may choose to go up to the next floor, but you cannot go back down except to exit the building!
So, a woman goes to the Husband Store to find a husband. On the first floor the sign on the door reads:
Floor 1 - These men Have Jobs
She is intrigued, but continues to the second floor, where the sign reads:
Floor 2 - These men Have Jobs and Love Kids.
'That's nice,' she thinks, 'but I want more.'
So she continues upward. The third floor sign reads:
Floor 3 - These men Have Jobs, Love Kids, and are Extremely Good Looking.
'Wow,' she thinks, but feels compelled to keep going.
She goes to the fourth floor and the sign reads:
Floor 4 - These men Have Jobs, Love Kids, are Drop-dead Good Looking and Help With Housework...
'Oh, mercy me!' she exclaims, 'I can hardly stand it!'
Still, she goes to the fifth floor and the sign reads:
Floor 5 - These men Have Jobs, Love Kids, are Drop-dead Gorgeous, Help with Housework, Have a Strong Romantic Streak and God fearing.
She is so tempted to stay, but she goes to the sixth floor, where the sign reads:
Floor 6 - You are visitor 31,456,012 to this floor. There are no men on this floor.. This floor exists solely as proof that women are impossible to please.
Thank you for shopping at the Husband Store.

As I close for this week, the wise message from Louise is appropriate for us to ponder –“ I monitor my self-talk today, making sure that it is uplifting and supportive of me and others."
Sending the blessings of peace, health, and happiness from our home to each of your homes for the coming week. Take care and stay warm.
Love Annette x
