Hello Special People
Since there is so much attention on love this month, I choose to focus on my most important relationship: the one I have with myself. After all, I am my primary companion through life. Other people may come and go, but I am always here. Every day, I take the opportunity to practice mirror work: Standing in front of a mirror, looking deep into my eyes, I tell myself, "I love you. I really love you." I smile at my reflection, remembering that when I love myself, life is so much easier and much more fun! (Louise Hay February message).
Well, this week has been one of two kinds. We had a lovely few days and overnight stay at the luxurious Langham Hotel on the Gold Coast. Then we came home to work, work, work getting the gardens and lawn ready for the photo shoot, which happens next week.
The overnight at the Langham was courtesy of a birthday gift John received from the family for his 80th in December. It was truly a most appreciated gift. Chocolates, Birthday cake and Champagne awaited us in our room, with the balloons topping it off with a beautiful note from the Hotel Manager. The staff also seemed to know they had an 80-year-old in their presence, making us feel special wherever we went. Even a birthday cake at dinner that night. We were treated with an early check-in and then a late checkout at 4 p.m., so we were able to enjoy the two full days. If you have a special occasion coming up and want to treat yourself to a decadent stay, you may want to choose the Langham.
The work, work, work in the garden was not what we needed after the Langham. Weeding and adding new bark is not my style of gardening. Tomorrow, we have grass to collect to repair an area where the workers trampled into the dirt with their heavy work shoes after all the heavy rain. So, it will be another workday. I do love the garden, but I like John doing the hard work. However, In this hot, humid weather, we both need to lend a hand. Those few lines tell the story of why we are downsizing to a Unit. The garden, and in fact, the house, is just too much for us to manage.
To top off the gardening today, I had to squeeze in the good old exercise program at QUT. Yes, I really dislike Thursday morning. I was annoying John in bed last night, complaining I could not get to sleep thinking about the exercises today. Of course, he has the simple answer: "Don't go if you don't like it." However, I would feel guilty if I missed a session, knowing how it is keeping me mobile and healthy.
The other excitement this week was we had a visit from a snake to the family next door. Leisa and Craig were off to the movies. Craig made the car without seeing the snake at the front door, but Leisa almost stood on it as she came out the door. The screams had Craig running from the car to do the honours and chase it away. John received a call from Mathilda, who was home alone about 30 minutes later. She wanted him to check down the side of the house to make sure the snake was not thinking of returning. He checked everything out and could not see any danger, so he assured her everything was safe. The interesting thing was their front door was open, and Leisa was so sure it would have entered the house if she had not spotted it. It was a python, but all the Chapman's who saw it assured me he was a big fellow. No matter what size, a snake is the last thing you need in your house.
I forgot to mention in the work, work, work section that I also ended up cleaning ceilings. John had the bright idea, but there was no way I was letting him climb ladders. So, we did a duo, and while I complained, the result proved it was worthwhile.
As we began with Louise, let's close also – I begin the day by reminding myself that Life supports me and wants me to be fulfilled and happy.
While we have had a busy week, we give thanks of appreciation and gratitude for our health. We send the blessings of peace, health and happiness from our home to each of your homes.
Love Annette x
