Hello Special People
We trust that you are all enjoying these beautiful days we are having at the moment. Sure, the mornings are cool, but the days are wonderful when the sun gets going. The skies are so clear. In fact, I am out with my final two roses as I am writing to you. They have the sunniest spot in the garden, so I decided to join them. John is calling out, "Are you doing your Vitamin D for twenty minutes?"
Well, I am, but I hadn’t thought about it in those terms as I set up next to the roses. Believe it or not, both the roses are ready to bloom. I gave them a good trim some weeks ago, and they have really responded. I will love these blooms, and then we will go through to the winter prune.
We enjoyed the AFL last Saturday night. Of course, it is always good when your team wins. John says he is still not completely sold on the Lions as a premiership side. However, I, the expert, tell him it is too early in the season for them to peak, and the coach has them exactly on track. He just smiles at me. It always astounds me how crowds of 30,000-odd can disperse so quickly and efficiently after the games.
Another busy week here in Brisbane with sandwich making on Thursday, so a 5 am start, and then today a 6 am start as we keep active with our Aqua Yoga. We are so fortunate to have heated pools for our Yoga classes. The pool at Newmarket this morning was so beautiful. Quite mystical. It is an enclosed pool, and the room itself was full of mist, with the cool air meeting the warm air. It was like Toowoomba fog. You could go down to the pool's far end and not be seen. Reminded me of our wonderful days living on the edge of the range and waking up to those misty, foggy mornings.
With these cool winter days, I am also enjoying taking over a little section of the kitchen. I don’t get too many opportunities to express my cooking skills these days. I just love having the time to cook. However, he has sanctioned my appearance and I am enjoying making my favorite soups and winter dishes. This week we have enjoyed the yummy beetroot and ginger soup with coconut milk and lunch today is lamb shanks. The slow cooker has been going all week. Love this time of the year for these delicious dishes. I did have to rack the brain to remember some of the recipes, but everything has come up trumps. I must add while John does not approve of me in the kitchen, he does give recognition for the tasty results.
Love to hear what yummy meals you have all been enjoying in this cold weather.
We have another busy weekend ahead. John is looking at the races again but informs me we will be leaving early so we don’t miss any of the Broncos match. The markets on Saturday morning to stock up on our fresh fruit and veges, Aqua Yoga at lunch time, and we look forward to spending time with Mark and Amy on Sunday. We are loving having them home here with us.
As we close for this week remember – “You, yourself, as much as anybody else in the entire universe, deserve your love and affection”. Buddha.
Sending love and blessing for a happy week as you take care, stay safe and keep warm.
